What goes in a funeral program
A funeral program is the folded handout guests receive at the service. It tells them who is being remembered and what will happen, and most people keep it afterward.
Most programs follow the same order: a cover with the photo, name, dates and service details; the order of service with the people leading each part; the obituary or life story; a poem, prayer or scripture; and a thank-you from the family with any reception or burial details.
The order of service
List each part of the service on its own line with the person leading it: prelude, welcome and opening prayer, readings, hymns or songs, the eulogy, closing prayer and recessional. The editor starts you with a traditional order of service and also offers celebration of life and shorter versions, all of which you can change line by line.
The life story

Her Life
Eleanor was born in Dayton, Ohio, the second of four children. She taught third grade at Lincoln Elementary for 31 years, and former students still stopped her at the grocery store to say hello. She married Robert Whitaker in 1964, and together they raised Anne, Michael and Robert Jr. She loved her garden, the church choir and Sunday dinners with whoever happened to stop by.
