What to put on a funeral invitation
A funeral or memorial invitation needs four things: whose life is being honored, what kind of gathering it is, when it starts, and where. Add a photo, a line about the reception, and how to reply if you need a head count.
Many families now send a celebration of life invitation weeks after a cremation or private burial, when relatives can travel. The wording can be as warm or as simple as the gathering.
Funeral, memorial or celebration of life
A funeral invitation usually goes out within days and keeps to the facts. A memorial or celebration of life invitation can come later and say more about the person and the kind of gathering it will be, from a church service to an afternoon in a park.
In lieu of flowers
If the family prefers donations, add one line at the bottom naming the charity, for example "In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the Springfield Public Library."

- The invitation design is $15 on its own, or part of the Matching Stationery set (prayer cards, thank-you cards, invitations and poster), which is $15 added to a funeral program.
- Invitations are a flat 5" × 7" card with the name, a photo, the date and time, and the place. Send the PDF by email or text, or print it.
- Printed invitations can be added to a printed program order at the same quantity (50 for $59) when you buy the Matching Stationery set. Or print the PDF at home or at any print shop.
