Zenobia Green

Zenobia Green, a cherished soul with a heart full of love and compassion, passed away peacefully at home on July 17, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on October 2, 1938, in Pulaski, Illinois, she was the beloved daughter of the late Gussie and Dallas Phillips. Her journey through life was marked by unwavering faith, abundant love for her family, and a dedication to serving others. Zenobia was a proud graduate of Pontiac High School, Class of 1955. Her career in the healthcare profession spanned over three decades, during which she was known for her exceptional dedication and warm-hearted care. She retired from Oakland County Medical Care Facility but returned to share her vibrant spirit as an activity's facilitator, enriching the lives of many with her joy and enthusiasm. In 1966, Zenobia found her soulmate in Robert Lee Green, with whom she shared 43 beautiful years of marriage. Their union was blessed with two children, and together they nurtured a family filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. Zenobia’s nurturing spirit extended to her children, Keith (Orlean) Spears, Kim Spears, Johnny (Patricia) Spears, Keyon (Sonya) Green, Laketa (Charles) Holmes, Eric Green, and Julia Madeline Ellison. Her legacy continues through her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, with whom she shared her boundless love and wisdom. Zenobia was predeceased by her loving husband Robert, her cherished daughter Renee Spears, her dear parents, and several siblings. She is survived by a large, loving family including her siblings Ray Johnson, Thomas (Jimmie Ann) Green, Shirley (Vern) Singleton, Gwendolyn Kay (Willie Green), and Debra Roston Barnes, along with extended family and countless friends who held her dear. A devoted member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church from a young age, Zenobia’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. She was known for her kind words, welcoming smile, and the wonderful meals she lovingly prepared for family gatherings. Her love for travel took her across the country to places like Seattle, Chicago, New York, and even the Bahamas, where she found joy in discovering new experiences and winning at the slot machines. Zenobia’s life will be celebrated on July 31, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, located at 268 N. Perry Street, Pontiac, Michigan. Her family invites all who knew her to join in honoring a life well-lived and a soul deeply cherished. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Zenobia Green’s memory to a charity of your choice.
