Zaylan Dante Bluhm

July 14, 2024 — June 6, 2026

Zalyan Dante Bluhm, age 23 months, of Miller, South Dakota passed away on June 6th, 2026, at Sanford Children's Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, from complications due to a Ruptured Appendix. He was surrounded by the love of his mother and His Aunts. Born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, on July 14th, 2024, to Shantel Bluhm. Zaylan brought endless joy, laughter, and unconditional love to everyone blessed to know him. He was a happy, curious, and observant little boy who never wanted to miss out on anything happing around him. Zaylan's smile could light up a room. His playful spirit made every day an adventure. Zaylan found happiness in the simple things in life, his favorite foods were chicken nuggets and fries, spaghetti, lasagna (really anything with noodles), garlic bread and his alt most favorite Reese's peanut butter cups or sticks. He loved to play, explore, and spend time with those he loved most. Zaylan's greatest joy was the bond he shared with his mother, aunts, and his cousins. Getting cuddles, making funny faces, and the endless giggles he had with them was timeless. Zaylan was born with a heart defect HLHS (hypoplastic left heart syndrome), which he spent better part of his first 6 months on this earth in and out of the hospital, with his first surgery being only at 3 weeks old and his second at 4 months, during that time it also included a feeding tube at 2 months. Even though having a heart defect, you couldn't tell, it was Zaylan's norm, He never let it stop him. As we were always making sure his O2 was where it needed to be, he wasn't stressing his heart. Zaylan was enrolled in the Birth to 3 Program, where he received PT, OT, and Speech services. Where he met and loved three special ladies. Amber, Tina, and Kelly. Who supported him with love, care, and encouragement throughout his journey. Though his time on earth was far too short, Zaylan leaves behind a lifetime of love, happiness and triumphs. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Zaylan is survived by his mother Shantel Bluhm, Aunts Gina (Bradley Henson), Zara (Johnathan) Myers, Uncle Colt Bluhm, Grandmother Sharon Myers, Cousins Dylan, Jaxon, Jamison, Zadiel, with lots of extended family, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Proceeded in death, Great Grandparents Bernice and Dennis Reitz, Great Grandparents Gene and Carol Bluhm, Great Aunt Laura, Great Aunt Beth, Great Uncle Grant, and Cousin Janna.

Only a Memory Away

So if you need me, call and I will come. Though you can't see or touch me, I'll be near. And if you listen with your heart, you'll hear all of my love around you soft and clear. And then, when you must come this way alone, I'll greet you with a smile and say, "Welcome Home."

Special Thanks

The family of Zaylan Dante Bluhm extends heartfelt gratitude for all your prayers, support, and kindness during this time.
