It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Zane M. Stokes, who left this world far too soon on June 27, 2026, at the tender age of 24. Zane was born on May 30, 2002, in Ashtabula, Ohio, and in the years that followed, he touched many lives with his warmth, kindness, and infectious smile.
Zane was the cherished son of Lenae Stokes and Gary Hughes. He was blessed to grow up in a loving family, supported by his stepdad, Bill Perrine, and surrounded by his siblings, Logan A. Stokes, Lara E. Stokes, Zachariah D. Stokes, and Luke G. Stokes. He has aunts Marylou and Eileen and uncles Michael and John.He was a beloved uncle to his nephew, Elijah N. Stokes and Aiden M Toombs with whom he shared many joyful moments.
Zane was preceded in death by his grandmother, Dolores Schrieber, and his aunt, Renae Graham. Their memories were a constant source of inspiration and love in Zane's life.
Zane's educational journey was marked by his graduation from West Caldwell High School, where he was a proud participant in the JROTC program for four years. His passion for learning and his dedication to his craft led him to complete the Welding Program at Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute (CCCTI). Zane was a skilled welder, whose talents and steadfast work ethic earned him the respect and admiration of his peers.
Beyond his professional achievements, Zane was an extraordinary artist, teaching himself the nuances of his craft with a natural ability that left everyone in awe. An avid Xbox player, Zane found joy and camaraderie in the virtual worlds he explored. His love for fashion was evident in his unique style, whether he donned a tuxedo or his favorite cowboy hat and jeans.
Zane had a profound love for animals, with the notable exception of spiders, and he cherished the time spent with his family and friends, especially during shooting outings with his brothers, Uncle John, and nephew Elijah. To sitting around a bomb fire with his brothers. His polite demeanor, ever-present smile, and willingness to lend a helping hand endeared him to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
In accordance with his family's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Zane's life and legacy. The Stokes family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has offered their thoughts, prayers, and support during this difficult time. Zane will be dearly missed and forever loved by those who knew him.
As we remember Zane, let us celebrate the incredible impact he had on our lives and carry forward the kindness and love he so freely shared. May his gentle soul rest in eternal peace.
