In Loving Memory

Zachary Michael Carpenter
September 11, 1991 — May 14, 2026
It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved Zachary Michael Carpenter, who left this world on May 14, 2026, at the age of 34. Zac, as he was affectionately known, was born on September 11, 1991, in Columbus, Ohio. He was a beacon of light and love, whose presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Zac was the cherished son of Dawn Sutherland and the late Michael A. Carpenter. He was a devoted brother to Aaron M. Carpenter and was predeceased by his loving sister, Mariah Dawn Carpenter Paternal Grandparents John and Mary Carpenter Uncle Johnny Carpenter and Maternal Grandmother Geneal Adams who he had a very special bond with. Zac was the adored nephew of many and a treasured uncle to his nephew, A’Mill Carpenter, with whom he shared a special bond. He also leaves behind his stepfather, Brian, whose life he touched profoundly, and his maternal grandfather, John Adams who he was very close to. William “Ed” and Nellie Sutherland. Several Aunts and Uncles: Bonnie Carpenter Keister (Don) Darrell Adams (Alice) Julie Beis (Denny) Bill Carpenter, Patti Chapman (David) Kathy Hall (Jeff) Lisa Samson, Donna (Chuck) Radovich Brenda McCormick (Dave) Crystal Adams John Adams (Jennifer)
Zac's early years were spent in Huntington W Va, Columbus, Oh and Westerville, where he attended Westerville South High School from 2007 to 2010. His thirst for knowledge was apparent from a young age, sparked by a set of encyclopedias gifted by his Papa John. This love for learning followed him into adulthood, where he was known for his vast knowledge of world events, movies, and books. Though he enrolled in college through Columbus State in 2024, his studies were cut short due to health challenges.
Zac had a heart filled with generosity and compassion. He was known for his quick wit and infectious laughter that could light up any room. His kindness knew no bounds; he was always willing to lend a helping hand or share whatever he had, often giving away things he had just acquired. He was the kind of person who left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
His family was his greatest pride and joy. Zac's love for his mother, Dawn, was immeasurable, and he never missed an opportunity to express his gratitude for her love and dedication. His bond with his nephew, A’Mill, was especially strong, as he was deeply involved in A’Mill's life, attending medical appointments and providing unwavering support.
Zac's stepfather, Brian, remembers him as someone who was always more concerned about others than himself, and his Aunt Bonnie expressed “ Zac always gave the Best Hugs” and loved his family, and we all knew it, through his calls and texts. His Aunt Julie affectionately described him as a "gentle man that loved big." These sentiments are echoed by all who had the privilege of knowing Zac.
Zac's memory will forever be cherished by his family and friends. His mother, Dawn, holds dear the countless notes Zac left behind, each one a testament to his loving nature and the deep bond they shared. As she fondly recalls, Zac never ended a day without expressing his love, always accompanied by a hug and a request for something sweet.
In honor of Zac's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to celebrate his remarkable life. The outpouring of love and support from friends and family has been a comfort during this difficult time, and the family extends their heartfelt gratitude to those who have reached out with memories and condolences.
While Zac's time with us was far too brief, the legacy of love and kindness he leaves behind will endure forever. He touched our lives in ways words cannot fully capture, and we are eternally grateful for the time we had with him. As we say goodbye, we take solace in the knowledge that Zac's spirit will live on in the hearts of all who loved him. We will see Zac soon again, and will all be reunited forever as Gods original plan was.
