May 17, 1992 — June 27, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the untimely passing of Zachary Fugate, a cherished son, devoted father, beloved brother, and treasured friend. Zachary left this world far too soon on June 27, 2026, at the age of 34, a life tragically cut short by a drunk driver. He was born on May 17, 1992, in Middletown, Ohio, where he began a journey marked by kindness, creativity, and a deep love for his family and friends. Zachary was the beloved son of James and Shannon Pieratt and Ricky Fugate. His presence was a beacon of light to his parents, who nurtured his gentle spirit and celebrated his many talents. Though his grandfathers, William Cretors and William Fugate, predeceased him, Zachary found comfort in their lasting legacy and the lessons of love and resilience they imparted. A proud graduate of Edgewood High School in 2011, Zachary was known for his determination and zest for life. He embarked on a fruitful career in construction, where his hard work and dedication left an indelible mark on every project he touched. His colleagues remember him not only for his professional skills but also for the camaraderie and laughter he shared, brightening even the most challenging of days. In his personal time, Zachary was a gifted songwriter and poet. His words, often penned late into the night, offered glimpses into his soul—capturing moments of joy, introspection, and heartfelt emotion. His creativity was boundless, and through his writing, he leaves behind a legacy of beauty and inspiration. Zachary's greatest pride and joy were his children, Savannah Renee Fugate and Eli Bryant Fugate. As a father, he was nurturing and playful, always putting his children first and cherishing every moment spent with them. His love for Savannah and Eli was unconditional and everlasting, a beacon of warmth and guidance that will continue to shine in their hearts. He is also survived by his siblings, Xavier (Kelssie) Fugate, AJ (Bree) Pieratt, Mason Fugate, and Leah (Ian) Bietenduvel, along with two nieces, one nephew, and a host of cousins who adored him. Zachary's family was the cornerstone of his life, and he relished every gathering, creating memories filled with laughter and love. His siblings remember him as both a confidant and partner in crime, whose mischief was only outmatched by his loyalty. A private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Zachary's life, allowing those closest to him to say their goodbyes in a setting of peace and reflection. Though we gather in sorrow, we also celebrate the joy he brought into our lives, forever grateful for the time we were blessed to share with him. In this time of mourning, Zachary's family wishes to extend a heartfelt message: "Zachary was very loved and will be missed terribly. May God hold you tight until we meet again, my sweet boy." Zachary's departure leaves a void that can never be filled, yet his spirit endures in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his memory serve as a reminder of the power of love and the beauty of a life lived with passion and purpose. Rest in peace, dear Zachary, until we meet again.
