In Loving Memory

Yvonne Tyler
April 29, 1960 — September 26, 2026
Yvonne Tyler, affectionately known as "Bone" to her family and friends, departed this life on September 26, 2026, in the comforting embrace of her family at her home. Born on April 29, 1960, in Richmond, Virginia, to Wilma and Foman Tyler, she lived a life rich in love, service, and joy despite the challenges she faced, including her courageous battle with cancer.
Yvonne's journey in education began at John F. Kennedy High School, where she graduated in 1977, before moving on to Sacramento State University. There, she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, a testament to her deep-seated commitment to helping others. This commitment was further exemplified in her 30-year career as a dedicated Social Worker for the State of California. Her professional life was marked by her unwavering compassion, advocacy, and the positive impact she made on countless lives.
A woman of faith, Yvonne was a cherished and long-standing member of the First Baptist Church of Ebenezer for over 40 years. Her service to the church was marked by grace and dedication, and her faith was a guiding light throughout her life.
Yvonne's personal life was as vibrant as her professional one. She was a passionate chess player, finding joy in the strategies and challenges the game provided. Her garden was a sanctuary where she nurtured plants with the same care and love she offered to her family and friends. Traveling was another of her great loves, as was spending treasured time with her beloved family.
Yvonne was predeceased by her parents, Wilma and Foman Tyler, but leaves behind a family who will carry her memory forward: her children, LaTisha Thuston of Atlanta, GA, and Marvel Bowen of Sacramento, CA; her cherished grandchild, Breon Hill of Atlanta, GA; and her siblings, Sherry Tyler and Andre Tyler, both of Sacramento, CA.
Her spirit was one of warmth, humor, and positivity. Known for her infectious smile and joyful laughter, Yvonne had a remarkable ability to make others feel valued and loved. Her kindness and generosity were hallmarks of her character, leaving an indelible mark on everyone she encountered.
Yvonne's life will be celebrated in a private ceremony, honoring her wishes and the deep love she shared with her family.
The family expresses their deep gratitude to the Tyler, Watkins, and Thuston families for their kindness and support during this difficult time. Yvonne's legacy of love and service will continue to inspire all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in memory of Yvonne, honoring her life and dedication to helping others.
