It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Yvonne Marie Wheaton, who left us serenely in her sleep on May 17, 2026, at the age of 90. Born on February 9, 1936, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Yvonne was the beloved daughter of William and Mary Shesser. Yvonne's life was a testament to love, laughter, and unwavering kindness. She shared 48 wonderful years of marriage with her late husband, Alfred T. Wheaton III, whom she married on November 9, 1958, in Harrisburg. Together, they nurtured a family that would become her greatest pride and joy. Yvonne leaves behind her cherished children: daughter Robin Shadel and her husband Steve, son Alfred T. Wheaton IV and his wife Wendy, and daughter Christina George with her husband Michael. Her legacy of love continues through her grandchildren, Brandon Wheaton and his wife Alexis, Alfred T. Wheaton V, and Bianca Wheaton, as well as her great-granddaughter, Jasmine Wheaton. Yvonne is also survived by her brother, William Shesser, and her sister, Corinne Shesser. A graduate of Harrisburg Catholic High School (Bishop McDevitt), Yvonne dedicated much of her life to a career in retail, working at various establishments, including Kings Department Store, Rea & Derick Drug Store, and People’s Drug Store before retiring from Weis Food Market to embrace her role as a grandmother. Yvonne's passions were as vibrant as her personality. She was an avid bowler, a lover of Canasta, and found joy in trips to the casino and bingo nights. Her creativity shone through her love of coloring and puzzles. Known for her quick wit and warm smile, Yvonne had an extraordinary ability to make everyone she met feel like a lifelong friend. Her family extends heartfelt gratitude to the Capital Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center in Harrisburg, where Yvonne formed many friendships and received compassionate care. Yvonne’s memory will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved her. She touched the lives of many with her humor, generosity, and love, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire. A celebration of Yvonne’s life will be held at a later date, where friends and family will gather to honor her remarkable life and bid her a loving farewell. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Yvonne’s memory to a charity of choice, reflecting her spirit of giving and kindness. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love she gave so freely.
