YVONNE JOHNSON

September 29, 1961 — October 27, 2026

It is with deep sorrow and profound love that we announce the passing of Yvonne Johnson, affectionately known as "Bonnie," Yvonne was born on September 29, 1961, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Herman and Earlean Henderson. She was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend who touched the lives of all she met with her gentle spirit and thoughtful nature. Yvonne was a graduate of Gage Park High School in Chicago, a place where she began to hone her grace and intellect. Her career was marked by her dedicated service as a receptionist at Lewis Brisboid Law Services until her retirement in 2021. After retiring, Yvonne relocated to Houston, Texas, to be closer to her cherished family. Where she was employed by SPIRIT Airlines. Yvonne returned home to Chicago in the summer of 2024. A homebody, she said that she was simply homesick for Chicago. Her life was a testament to her love for the water, as she swam with grace and joy , and her skill on roller skates was nothing short of artistry. Yvonne also had a flair for hairstyling, creating wonderful homeopathic and natural hair, scalp, and face masks in the comfort of her own kitchen. In 2025, Yvonne answered the call of discipleship at Fellowship Chicago, a reflection of her contemplative and generous spirit that she shared with her community. Her cheerful presence will be missed in the neighborhood of Kingston Place in Chicago, where she was a cherished friend and neighbor. Yvonne is survived by her loving mother, Earlean Henderson; her cherished children Christopher Johnson and Lauren Johnson Williams and beloved grandsons Cameron and Sincere Johnson Williams of Houston, Texas. Brothers Stanley Gathings (Donita), Arthur M. Gathings (Charlotte), Daryl Henderson, and Ronald Henderson (Brenda); her sister, Wilhelmenia Harris (Preston) of Chicago, Illinois as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were like family, she'd say. Preceding her in death were her father, Herman; her brothers, Herman Jr., Edward, and Harold; and her beloved son, Edward D. Coleman. Yvonne's family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to her dear friends Marva of Spring, Texas, Barbara B of Chicago, Deborah Thompson of Evanston, and Deiadra (Dee Dee) Williams, whose love and encouragement of over 50 yrs , supported Yvonne as she embraced life as a senior citizen & grandmother while shopping and dining out & recently celebrated "Girls Night In" In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be given directly to her grandchildren through their mother Lauren Johnson and son Christopher Johnson. In honor of Yvonne's generous spirit. Yvonne will be remembered for her soft-spoken nature, her generous heart, and her contemplative soul. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and warmth that will continue to inspire all who knew her. May she rest in eternal peace.
