April 15, 1949 — June 3, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and cherished memories that we announce the passing of our beloved Yvette Britt, who departed this life peacefully at home on June 3, 2026, surrounded by the love of her devoted sister. Yvette was born on April 15, 1949, in Yonkers, NY, to her loving mother, Mildred Johnson, who predeceased her along with her siblings, Earl Jacobs, Sharon Jacobs, and Bubba Jacobs, and her nephews, Justin Jacobs and Daryl Jacobs. Her journey through life touched many, and her legacy will continue to inspire those she leaves behind. Yvette was a beacon of warmth and kindness, whose gentle spirit and nurturing heart were felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her laughter was infectious, her wisdom profound, and her compassion boundless. She lived a life full of grace and resilience, always finding beauty in the simple joys of life and sharing those moments with her cherished family and friends. A devoted mother, Yvette is survived by her dear son, Hank Shaw, who was the pride and joy of her life. She took immense pleasure in watching him grow and thrive, offering him guidance, love, and unwavering support throughout his life. Her sister, Tuwanda Jacobs, shared a special sisterly bond with Yvette, marked by countless shared memories and unconditional love. Yvette was also a treasured aunt to her nieces and nephews, Tyeisha Hawkins, Omar Hawkins, and Jordan Jacobs, and a beloved great-aunt to Daquan Hawkins and Chyeisha Sutton. She took great joy in being a part of their lives, offering her wisdom, humor, and love to shape their futures. Though Yvette did not have grandchildren or great-grandchildren, her nurturing spirit extended to all children she encountered, and she was affectionately known as a mother to many within her community. Her legacy of love and kindness will continue to ripple through the lives she touched. We invite family and friends to join us in celebrating the life of Yvette Britt at a memorial service on June 27, 2026, at 9:00 AM. The service will be held at the Kingdom Christian Cultural Center, located at 62 Palisade Ave. It will be a time to honor her memory, share stories, and find solace in the love she left behind. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a charity of choice in Yvette's name, as a tribute to her generous spirit and her passion for helping others. While we mourn her passing, we take comfort in knowing that Yvette’s spirit will forever be with us, guiding us with her love and wisdom. Her life was a beautiful testament to the power of love, kindness, and perseverance. May she rest in eternal peace, reunited with those who have gone before her, and may her memory be a blessing to all who knew her.
