In Loving Memory of Yolanda Myers
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Yolanda Myers, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Yolanda departed this life on June 2, 2026, at the age of 81, in the comforting presence of her family and friends after a courageous battle with lung cancer. She was born on October 12, 1944, in Boulder, Colorado, to the late Albert and Charlene Porter.
Yolanda was the cherished wife of the late Willie Myers, with whom she shared a beautiful marriage of 52 years. Their love story, which began in their hometown through mutual friends, was a testament to devotion, faith, and unwavering support. Together, they built a loving home and raised three wonderful children: Willie Jr. (Sandra), Angela (John), and Anthony (Tamika). Yolanda was a nurturing mother who always placed the needs of her loved ones before her own, and her warm smile and compassionate heart left a lasting impact on all who knew her.
Yolanda’s legacy continues through her children and five grandchildren: Jonathan, Ashlyn, Floyd, Donovan, and Anthony Jr., who were the pride and joy of her life. Her family and friends will forever cherish the memories of her love, guidance, and the strength she imparted to them.
A devoted member of her community, Yolanda spent 32 years as a compassionate nurse, providing exceptional care and support to countless patients and their families. Her gentle spirit and dedication earned her the admiration and respect of her colleagues and everyone whose lives she touched. Even after retirement, Yolanda continued to serve others, working with youth at local community and youth centers, teaching them valuable life skills, and sharing God’s word with a passion that inspired spiritual growth.
A woman of steadfast faith, Yolanda was a faithful member of New Light Christian Center for 24 years, where she built lasting relationships and served with love and compassion. She also cherished her membership with Victory Temple Church in Fort Worth, Texas, where she was part of the Golden Angels ministry. Her unwavering devotion to her faith was evident in the way she lived her life, always exemplifying God’s love through her actions.
Yolanda found immense joy in cooking, sharing meals, and creating lasting memories with her family and friends. She loved reading her Bible, listening to gospel music, and traveling to visit loved ones. Above all, she found her greatest joy in serving others and spending quality time with her family.
Yolanda was predeceased by her beloved husband, Willie Myers, her parents, Albert and Charlene Porter, and her sisters, Lorena Hall and Pearlie Bennett. She leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and faith that will live on in the hearts of her surviving family and the countless friends who were blessed to know her.
A private funeral ceremony will be held in her honor, celebrating the life of a remarkable woman who touched so many. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude for the love, prayers, and support shown during this difficult time. Yolanda’s legacy of love and faith will continue to shine through all who knew her.
While our hearts are heavy with her loss, we take comfort in knowing that Yolanda is at peace in the presence of the Lord. Her life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and family, and her spirit will forever remain with us.
