Yolanda Gail Childers
March 15, 1957 — October 27, 2026
Yolanda Gail Childers, affectionately known to many as "Mack," passed away peacefully on October 27, 2026, after a courageous battle with illness. Born on March 15, 1957, in Clanton, Alabama, Yolanda was a beacon of light and warmth in her community, sharing her unwavering generosity and kindness with everyone she encountered.
Yolanda was the cherished daughter of Julia Tinsley and Roanoke White, both of whom preceded her in death, along with her brothers Kyner and Herbert, her sister Marissa and grandchildren JaCari and Raylah. Despite these losses, Yolanda remained a pillar of strength for her family and community. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her surviving children, Ericka, Shemeka (James), and Larry Jr., along with her 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy to her life.
A proud graduate of the Clanton Training School, Yolanda dedicated her life to nurturing the spirit and well-being of those around her. As an active and beloved member of Union Missionary Baptist Church, Yolanda was not only a devout congregant but also a fervent Prayer Warrior at Fountain Chapel, where her faith and compassion inspired those around her.
Yolanda's home was a sanctuary for many, a place where no one was ever considered a stranger. Her good heart, humor, and wit touched countless lives, fostering a community grounded in love and mutual support. Her legacy of caring and open-heartedness will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to The Cancer Center of Alabaster, Shelby Baptist, Southern Care New Beacon, and all who offered their support during this challenging time. Your kindness and care have been deeply appreciated.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Yolanda's life at a service on November 7, 2026, at 2:00 PM, held at Union Missionary Baptist Church, located at 110 Liberty Street, Clanton, Alabama 35045. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Yolanda's memory to an organization of your choice that embodies the compassion and generosity she lived by every day.
Though Yolanda's physical presence may be gone, her spirit of love and kindness will continue to inspire and guide us all.
