In Loving Memory

Yolanda Franklin
October 10, 1960 — April 24, 2026
Yolanda Franklin, a beacon of strength and warmth, passed away on April 24, 2026, surrounded by her beloved family. After a courageous battle with cancer, Yolanda found peace, leaving behind a legacy of love and resilience that will continue to inspire all who knew her. She was 65 years old.
Born on October 10, 1960, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Yolanda was the cherished daughter of Dorothy Moss Baker-Massey and Wallace Baker. She was welcomed into a loving family that would shape her into the incredible woman she became. Predeceased by her parents and her younger brother, Yolanda is now reunited with them in eternal rest.
Yolanda’s early years were marked by her unmistakable red hair and freckles, features that became her hallmark as much as her fierce intelligence and kind heart. She graduated from North Central High School in 1979, and furthered her education by obtaining an Associate's degree in Paralegal Studies from Brown Mackie College. Her pursuit of knowledge and dedication to her work were evident throughout her career.
Yolanda devoted many years to the Lawrence Township Schools, where she was not just a member of the custodial team but a cherished friend and colleague to many. She retired with the respect and admiration of all who had the privilege of working alongside her.
In her personal life, Yolanda found her greatest joy in her family. She shared a loving marriage with Kevin Franklin Sr., and together, they co-parented three wonderful children: Kimber Jones (Brandon), Kevin Franklin II, and Kyia Franklin. Her grandchildren, Maleah Jones and Brandon Jones Jr., were her pride and joy, and she embraced the role of grandmother with unparalleled enthusiasm and love.
Yolanda had a multitude of interests that brought her joy and relaxation. Whether she was feeding birds in her backyard or engrossed in cooking, law, and crime shows, she found beauty in the simple pleasures of life. Her laughter, wisdom and wit were a source of strength for her family and friends, who cherished her presence and guidance.
A private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Yolanda’s life, as per the family’s wishes. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at IU Health and Methodist Hospital, whose care and kindness provided comfort during Yolanda’s final days.
Yolanda leaves behind her devoted husband, Kevin, her children Kimber, Kevin II, and Kyia, her grandchildren Maleah and Brandon, two sisters, two brothers, and a host of nieces, nephews, in laws and friends. Her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her, and her legacy of love and strength will forever be cherished.
Flower arrangements can be sent to Stuart Mortuary. The family asks that you honor Yolanda by spending time with your loved ones, cherishing each moment, just as she did. May her soul rest in peace, and may her memory be a blessing to all who were fortunate to know her.
