September 1, 1934 — July 15, 2026

It is with profound sadness and heartfelt love that we announce the passing of Wynona Carper, a remarkable woman whose life was a testament to love, faith, and service. Wynona departed this world on July 15, 2026, at the age of 91, surrounded by her family who cherished her dearly. Born on September 1, 1934, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, to Esta and Jhon Wayne Hood, Wynona, affectionately known as Nona, was a beacon of warmth, strength, and resilience. In 1951, Nona met the love of her life, Bill Carper. Their love story was one of deep devotion and commitment. Just two weeks after their meeting, they were married, embarking on a journey that would see them raise seven wonderful children and remain happily united until Bill's passing in 2007. Together, they created a loving family, and Nona's unwavering love and dedication to her children, Ricky Carper, Rose Curry, Rebekah Cummings, Bob Carper, Brenda Carper, Diane Carper, and Riley Carper, were the cornerstones of her life. Nona's career path reflected her nurturing spirit. She began her professional life as a nurse, a role that perfectly suited her innate compassion and desire to care for others. Later, she became a beloved cook at Rivendale, where her meals nourished both body and soul. Her culinary talents extended beyond her workplace; she was renowned for her homemade candy, which brought joy to family and friends alike. Throughout her life, Nona was a devoted member of her church, where she found joy in preparing meals, hosting gatherings, and encouraging others through her service. Wynona's legacy is carried forth by her 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, who will remember her as a source of laughter and love. Her spirit was a blend of playful stubbornness and a goofy personality that brought joy to those around her. Her laughter was infectious, her compassion boundless, and her faith unwavering. As a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Nona's life was a radiant example of selfless love and dedication. In honor of her wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in her memory to a charity of your choice, reflecting Nona's generous spirit and lifelong commitment to helping others. The family would like to share Wynona's favorite scripture as a testament to her life: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” — 2 Timothy 4:7 Wynona Carper, a woman of immeasurable strength and tenderness, will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love and kindness will remain in our hearts forever.
