Womble Lee Jackson, Sr. February 3, 1950- June 22, 2026 **In quiet moments, we feel you near, a soft echo of love that never fades. Though your journey has carried you home, your light remains in every heart you touched. We honor your life with gratitude, your memory with tenderness, your legacy with the way we love one another. Rest now in peace and perfect grace. Your story continues in us— in our laughter, our tears, and the love you planted that will never die.** The world seemed a little dimmer on Monday, June 22, 2026 when Womble Lee Jackson, Sr. age 76 left us. Known for his laughter, big heart, and love. He was born to Disie and Samuel Jackson on February 3, 1950, in Winnsboro, LA. He passed away peacefully at St. Dominic’s hospital in Jackson, Mississippi surrounded by his wife and other family. W L lived a life defined by kindness, resilience and a deep love for others. He dedicated his working years to Union Pacific Railroad. His work ethic inspired young minds because of his patience, creativity and belief in their potential. His retirement from the railroad freed him up to do more of the things he enjoyed, namely mowing yards, hunting and fishing. In his heyday, he was known to kill a rabbit or two in a day, clean them and sometimes cook one himself and offer some to others. His gentle spirit and generous heart touched everyone he met. W L joined the church of his grandparents, Ed and Ola Gransberry, the Agusta Missionary Baptist Church. He was baptized around the age of six years old by Rev. C. H. Bush. His membership remained with the same church throughout his lifetime. W L’s greatest joy was his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandpa, son, brother, uncle and friend. He cherished his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. When he was in conversation with just about anyone who would listen, the talk always came back to what the children were doing. He was so proud of them. He was preceded in death by his parents and 7 siblings. He is survived by his wife, Assie Lee, children: Christy Johnson (Carlos), Womble Jackson, Jr. (Felicia), Shemeka Neal, Sharon Pleasant (Chris), Lachandra Jones, Deangela Finley, Monica Finley, Demario Alexander and a bonus son Xavier Finley. His life consisted richly of many grandchildren and great grandchildren. His was blessed with his biological siblings: Deland Jackson (Linda), Ruby Armstrong, Glenda Tanzie (Winfred), Kenneth (Janice), and Ardella Newhouse (Frank). He was also blessed to choose his bonus siblings: Melissa Johnson (Louis), William Neal, Jr., Arthur Neal, Velma Brown, Ola Neal, Rosie Caston (Eddie) and LaTanga Blackson (Kenneth). God enhanced his years here on earth with many nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends. W L was a light in our hearts, a treasure beyond measure and his memory will remain forever in our hearts.
