Wilma Malaya Shuler

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Wilma Malaya Shuler, who was called home to live with the Lord on May 19, 2026. Born on November 1, 1957, in the vibrant city of New York, NY, Malaya was a beacon of love, faith, and strength to all who knew her. Her journey through life was marked by her unwavering commitment to her family, her community, and her faith. Malaya's early life was spent in the bustling streets of New York, where she graduated from Washington High School at the tender age of 17. Her youthful zeal and determination were evident as she embarked on a career that saw her wearing many hats. She worked tirelessly as a waitress, became a phenomenal cook for the school system, and later served with dignity and dedication at the Dekalb County Sheriff's Department. Above all, Malaya was known for her deep devotion to her family and her faith. As a loving housewife and caring mother, she leaves behind a remarkable legacy through her siblings Bobby Shuler, Jose Shuler, John Shuler, Her children: Starcia Lambright, Sheashe Shuler, Shanee Shuler, Trevion Shuler, Davonte Shuler, Taj Shuler, and Aja Shuler. Her nurturing spirit extended to her 12 grandchildren Diamond Shuler, Lashaje Brady, Monee Morgan and 8 great-grandchildren, each of whom she cherished dearly. Malaya's faith was a cornerstone of her life. A devoted Christian, she was a steadfast member of The Word Of Truth Christian Center, where she could be found every Sunday, sitting front and center, a testament to her unwavering belief and love for her community. As we gather to celebrate Malaya's life, we invite friends and family to join us for a service on June 24, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at Gregory B Lovette & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory, located at 4347 Flat Shoal Pkwy, Decatur, GA 30034. It is in this place that we will honor the life of a woman who embodied grace, strength, and unconditional love. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests donations be made to a charity of your choice, as a tribute to Malaya's generous and compassionate spirit. The family of Wilma Malaya Shuler wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this time. The many messages, floral tributes, prayers, and other expressions of kindness have been a source of comfort and strength. While we mourn the loss of Malaya, we also celebrate the profound impact she had on the lives of so many. Her legacy will continue to inspire and guide us, reminding us of the beauty of a life lived with love and faith.
