A proud veteran, Willie served his country with honor in the U.S. Army for 20 years, including a tour in Vietnam. His devotion to his nation was a testament to his character and commitment to something greater than himself. In his professional life, Willie dedicated himself to the Fort Campbell community in Kentucky and later became a beloved bus driver with the Montgomery County School System. His patience and kindness made a lasting impact on both colleagues and the countless students he transported safely each day. Additionally, Willie volunteered at Tennova Hospital, where he offered prayers and encouragement to heart patients, extending his gentle spirit to those in need. Willie was an active member of Greenhill Missionary Baptist Church in Clarksville, TN, where he found a community that shared his values and faith. He lived his life with integrity and humility, always dressed with care, reflecting his respect for himself and others. Outside of his professional and volunteer endeavors, Willie was an advent reader who found joy in the pages of countless books. He loved fishing and taking long walks, finding peace and reflection in the simplicity of nature. His well-dressed appearance was a testament to his respect for himself and those he encountered. Willie shared over 20 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Dorothy Thompson, whose love and partnership enriched his life in immeasurable ways. He was a devoted father to his daughter, Miriam Thompson, and a loving father-in-love to Patricia Thompson. Willie was also the proud grandfather of two grandchildren, whose lives he touched with love and guidance.
