In Loving Memory of Willie Johnson Jr. With heavy hearts and profound love, we announce the passing of Willie Johnson Jr., a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. Willie left us peacefully on July 3, 2026, at the age of 73, after bravely facing complications from Alzheimer's disease. Born on September 24, 1952, in the bustling streets of Brooklyn, New York, Willie was the cherished son of Willie Johnson Sr. and Kathryn Delores Johnson. Willie's life was a testament to strength, kindness, and the power of family. He was predeceased by his parents and his dear brothers Richard, Harold, and Keith Johnson. Though they have gone before him, their memories remain deeply etched in the hearts of those left behind. He is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 52 years, Loretta Johnson, whom he married on July 28, 1974. Together, they built a loving home and welcomed two wonderful children, Terrence (affectionately known as Telly) Johnson and Michelle Daniels, both of whom reflect their father's warmth and compassion. Willie also leaves behind his beloved sisters, Denise (his darling) and Beatrice, who stood by him throughout his life. His legacy extends to his nieces, Shakilya and Daquanda (known fondly as Quan Quan), and his nephews, Keith Johnson Jr., Timothy Mills Jr., and Rene Johnson. Willie also held a special bond with his brother-in-law, Michael Massiah, and his sisters-in-law, Renee Massiah, Cynthia Johnson, and Yvonne Johnson, along with a wide circle of family and friends who will forever cherish his memory. Willie's educational journey led him to earn his GED, a testament to his determination and resilience. He served his country with pride, dedicating a year to military service before his honorable discharge. Professionally, Willie found fulfillment in helping others as a youth counselor, a role he held with dedication until his retirement. A man of faith, Willie was an active member of the Greater Free Gift Baptist Church, where he found spiritual solace and community. In his leisure, he found joy in life's simple pleasures—traveling to Atlantic City, playing his numbers, and engaging in heartfelt conversations with friends in the parking lot. Willie's kindness and willingness to go the extra mile for anyone in need were hallmarks of his character. A private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Willie's life, as he wished. During this time of mourning, the family of Willie Johnson Jr. wishes to express their deepest gratitude for the overwhelming love, prayers, and support received from friends and family. Your kindness has brought comfort and light during this difficult time, and for this, they are profoundly thankful. In lieu of flowers, donations in Willie's memory can be made to organizations dedicated to Alzheimer's research or a charity of your choice, reflecting his spirit of giving and care for others. As we remember Willie Johnson Jr., let us celebrate a life well-lived, marked by love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to those he held dear. His spirit will continue to guide and inspire us, and he will forever remain in our hearts.
