Willie was born on November 20, 1939, in Brundidge, Alabama, to the late Mr. Walter Heads and Mrs. Mabel Heads. He was one of twenty-two siblings, growing up in a large family where faith, hard work, respect, and love for one another were instilled from an early age. During his youth, the Heads family relocated to Quincy, Florida, where Willie would meet the love of his life, Mrs. Clara Mae Lawrence Heads.
While living in Florida, Willie was employed by the Coca-Cola Company, where he worked faithfully for several years. Seeking new opportunities, Willie and Clara Mae later moved to Long Island, New York, where they raised their two daughters and established a life rooted in faith and community.
During his years in New York, Willie became a devoted member of The Little Church of God in Christ in Central Islip, New York. He faithfully served the Lord while building lasting friendships within his church family. He was also employed by Jett Sanitation, for more than ten years. Willie was known as a dependable, hardworking man who took great pride in providing for his family.
After retiring, Willie and Clara Mae made Charlotte, North Carolina, their home. There, they became faithful members of Assurance Community Bible Ministry, where they worshipped under the leadership of Pastor Maurice Redmond and First Lady Deborah Redmond. Over the years, the Redmond family became much more than their pastors—they became extended family. The love, fellowship, and support they shared remained a treasured blessing throughout Willie's life.
Nothing brought Willie greater joy than spending time with his family and friends. His family was truly the center of his world. Whether he was sitting outside talking with his best friend and neighbor, Mr. Roger, enjoying dinners and gatherings with his dear friends Mrs. Donna Brown and Mr. Joey Brown, checking in on his brothers Howard and James, laughing with his beloved nephews Michael and Rufus, or making memories with his great-granddaughter Alana ("Lala") and his precious great-great-granddaughter Adriana ("Pumpkin"), Willie treasured every moment. To know him was to know a man whose greatest happiness came from simply being surrounded by those he loved.
Willie also enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He loved spending peaceful days fishing, caring for his garden, and cheering on his favorite teams, the Atlanta Braves and the Dallas Cowboys. His quiet strength, warm smile, gentle spirit, and kind heart left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of more than forty years, Mrs. Clara Mae Heads; his parents, Mr. Walter Heads and Mrs. Mabel Heads; his grandson, Mr. Tyrell Paige; his brother, Mr. Jerry Heads; and his sister, Mrs. Willie Green.
Willie leaves to cherish his precious memory his loving brothers, Mr. Howard Heads and Mr. James Heads; his devoted daughters, Mrs. Debbie Smith and Ms. Glenda Smith; his cherished grandchildren Tiyana Smith, Chantay Paige, Tiffany Paige, Tricinia Paige, Terrance Smith, Derek Smith, Brian Smith, and Mr. Devin Stewart.
He also leaves behind a beautiful legacy through his great-grandchildren: Alana "Lala" McFarland, Taquan McFarland, Avion Reid, Amauri "Mackie" Reid, Tyasia Paige, Janay Owens, Junior Owens, Kameryn Smith, Jamiya Smith, Emory McCory, Deandra Cureton , Iyana Paige, Harmony Harris, Symeon Cook Jr, and Desia Paige.
His love continues through his cherished great-great-grandchildren: Adriana "Pumpkin" Norris, K'ari Reid, and Leloni McFarland, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, lifelong friends, church family, neighbors, and everyone blessed to know him.
Mr. Willie Will Heads lived a life marked by humility, faith, integrity, and unwavering love. He was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, loyal friend, and faithful servant of God. His life reminds us that true wealth is measured not by possessions but by the love we give and the lives we touch.
Although our hearts are saddened by his passing, we rejoice in knowing that he has been reunited with his beloved Clara Mae and all those who have gone before him. His legacy of faith, kindness, and unconditional love will continue to live on in every life he touched.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to House of Rosadale Home of Funerals and Cremations, Assurance Community Bible Ministry, and Pastor Maurice and Deborah Redmond for their support and compassion during this time.
If tomorrow starts without me,
and I'm not there to see,
if the sun should rise and find your eyes
all filled with tears for me;
I wish so much you wouldn't cry
the way you did today,
while thinking of the many things
we didn't get to say.
I know how much you love me,
as much as I love you,
and each time that you think of me,
I know you'll miss me too.
But when tomorrow starts without me,
please try to understand
that an angel came and called my name
and took me by the hand.
Special Thanks
