Green, affectionately known as Mamma Willie by her nieces, nephews, and all who cherished her, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2026, at the age of 90. Born on April 17, 1936, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to Eliza Taylor and Will Thomas Taylor, Willie grew up surrounded by the warmth and love of a large, close-knit family. These early experiences nurtured in her a lifelong commitment to devotion, hard work, and unwavering familial love. Willie spent over four decades at Cook County Hospital, where her career exemplified her tireless work ethic and profound dedication to the well-being of others. From her beginnings in cleaning supplies to her role as ward clerk of the Neurosurgical ICU, she became a cornerstone of the hospital, admired and respected by colleagues. Her dedication and skill eventually led to her promotion to Patient Service Coordinator before she retired. Her legacy at Cook County Hospital extended beyond her personal achievements; she was instrumental in guiding her daughter, Paula Green, on her journey to becoming an Emergency Medicine Physician, showcasing her selfless investment in the success of those she held dear. More than anything, Willie was a family person. She treasured every moment spent with her loved ones and gave of herself freely. Her devotion shone most brightly in the care she provided for her mother in her final years, a testament to the depth of her character. She also poured her energy and boundless love into her grandchildren, Willow and Wendell (endearingly known as CJ), who brought her immeasurable joy. In her earlier years, Willie developed a passion for plants and flower arranging, bringing beauty and warmth to her home and those of others. Her love of travel, particularly ocean cruises, provided cherished adventures shared with her family. She also adored her fur babies, Sparkle, Sunshine, and Coco, who preceded her in death. Willie was preceded in death by her parents, Will Thomas Taylor, Sr., and Eliza, her brother, Will Thomas Taylor Jr., and sisters, Maggie Brewer, Verna Taylor, and Alma Taylor. She is survived by her daughter, Paula Briana Green, sisters, Paula Herron and Katherine Dancy, her beloved grandchildren, Willow and Wendell, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends, whose lives were touched by her generous spirit.
