Willie D. Hann, born on April 10, 1944, in the quaint town of Opelika, Alabama, left this world on September 15, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, devotion, and cherished memories. Born to Mary and Edward Hann, Willie was a beacon of kindness and integrity, qualities that he upheld throughout his life. Growing up in Opelika, Willie developed a deep connection to his roots, which he sustained as an active member of the First Baptist Church of Opelika. Here, he not only worshipped but also formed lasting bonds with fellow congregants who quickly became his extended family. On February 19, 1965, Willie married the love of his life, Rosie, and together they raised three beautiful children: Tara, Barbara, and Willie Hann Jr. Their home was one filled with laughter, warmth, and endless love, a testament to the strong foundation Willie and Rosie built over the years. Willie dedicated 35 years of hard work to the KMART Distribution Center, where he established a reputation for his unwavering work ethic and friendly demeanor. He retired in 2010, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and camaraderie with his colleagues. Despite his professional commitments, Willie found joy in the simplest pleasures of life. He loved spending his free time fishing, where the tranquility of nature brought him peace. Another of his delights was playing slots at the casino, where he enjoyed the excitement and the camaraderie of fellow enthusiasts. Willie's life was enriched by the love of his family, including 10 adoring grandchildren who brought immense joy and pride to his days. Though predeceased by his brother, James Gilbert, Willie's spirit continues to thrive in the hearts of his surviving family members and all who had the fortune to know him. To celebrate Willie's extraordinary life, a service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Opelika, located at 301 S. 8th St., Opelika, AL 36801, on September 19, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. The family extends their warmest appreciation for the outpouring of love and support during this time. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Willie's memory, ensuring that his spirit of generosity and compassion continues to make a difference in the world. Willie's legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone he interacted with, as well as those he reached but never met. His life was a testament to love, family, and faith, and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
