William W. “Win” Orben

William W. “Win” Orben, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, peacefully passed away on July 12, 2026, shortly after moving to assisted living. He was 92 years old. Born in Summit, New Jersey, on January 5, 1934, Win led a life full of love, service, and commitment to his family, friends, and community. Win graduated from Milburn High School in 1951 and went on to earn his degree from Pennsylvania State University in 1955. Shortly thereafter, he answered the call to serve his country, joining the US Air Force as a Lieutenant from 1955 to 1958. His service was a testament to his enduring patriotism—a value he held close throughout his life. In 1954, Win married the love of his life, Mary-Beth Ward, at Christ’s Church in Short Hills, NJ. Their union was a shining example of love and partnership until Mary-Beth's passing in 2017. Together, they raised three wonderful children: Kenneth William (Christine), Charles Joseph (Theresa), and Carolyn M. Orben (Bruce). He was also a proud grandfather to Andrew Orben, Colleen Kiley, Bridget Kiley, Jacob Orben, Kenneth Orben, and Michaela Kiley, and a delighted great-grandfather to Atalaya, Ezzah, and Oakley. Win's professional journey saw him contributing to Aetna Life Insurance before embarking on a successful career in the real estate industry. He was a man of integrity and commitment, qualities that were recognized and appreciated by all who worked with him. His dedication to community service was evident through his active involvement in various organizations. Win was a past president of the Chatham NJ Rotary Club, where he was known for his friendliness and enthusiasm. He was also a member of the Morris County Republican Club and an active parishioner at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Chatham, where his faith and community spirit shone brightly. Win's interests were as diverse as they were passionate. He was an avid reader of American history, a lover of maps, and a travel enthusiast, always eager to explore new places and gain new perspectives. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Brookdale Senior Living for the compassionate care provided to Win in his final days. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Win’s memory to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Venice, FL, as a tribute to his enduring faith and community spirit. As we remember Win, we celebrate a life well-lived—a life marked by love, service, and an unwavering commitment to those he held dear. His legacy will continue through the countless lives he touched, and he will be dearly missed.
