December 16, 1944 — April 26, 2026

With heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of William Talmage Brock, who departed this world peacefully on April 26, 2026, at the Levine and Dickson Hospice House. Born on December 16, 1944, in Marion, North Carolina, William—or Bill, as he was affectionately known—left behind a legacy of love, dedication, and unwavering faith. Bill was the cherished son of the late Rev. Paul Brock and Gladys Brock, who imbued him with a deep-rooted faith and commitment to service. He now joins them in eternity, alongside his beloved brother, James Andrew Brock. A proud alumnus of Greensboro Page High School's class of 1963, Bill was a lifelong learner. He pursued his passion for optics, earning a degree in Opticianry from Durham Technical Institute, followed by a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Montreat College. His commitment to education and excellence was evident throughout his career, where he worked diligently as an optician and held various roles in retail. Bill's love for the field was palpable, and he generously shared his knowledge by teaching opticianry at Central Piedmont Community College, inspiring countless students with his warmth and wisdom. Bill's life was a testament to courage and duty, having served with honor as a United States Army Vietnam Veteran. His service to his country was matched only by his devotion to his family and faith. A dedicated follower of Christ, Bill's compassion and encouragement touched everyone he met. His gentle spirit and kind words were a source of strength and comfort to many, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him. On March 11, 1979, Bill married the love of his life, Kathy Brock, with whom he shared 47 beautiful years. Together, they built a life filled with love and laughter, nurturing a family that was the center of Bill's universe. He is survived by his sons, Paul Talmage Brock II, married to Kristina (Smith) Brock, along with their children, Elijah Davis Brock and Hannah Marie Brock, of Apex, NC; and William Eric Brock of Rutherfordton, NC. Bill's sister, Paula (Brock) Young, married to Jon Young of Santa Fe, NM, also survives him, alongside a host of other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly. A celebration of Bill's life will be held at 2:00 PM on April 30, 2026, at the First Methodist Church in Mount Holly, where family and friends will gather to honor a remarkable man whose life was a blessing to all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a charity of your choice, in memory of Bill's generous spirit. William Talmage Brock's legacy is one of love, service, and unwavering faith. His life was a beacon of hope and encouragement, and he will be dearly missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those he touched.
