William Taft Rivera

William Taft Rivera, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, peacefully departed this life on September 17, 2026, at his home, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on December 12, 1965, in Plainfield, New Jersey, William was the cherished son of the late Sallie A. Rivera and grew up in a home filled with love and faith. A proud product of the Plainfield school system, William was a man of many talents and a true entrepreneur at heart. His industrious spirit led him to master a variety of trades, from painting and carpentry to plumbing. Most recently, he channeled his ambition and skill into owning his own successful moving company. William’s work was not just a means of livelihood but a testament to his dedication and perseverance. William's faith was the cornerstone of his life. He had a profound reverence for the Lord, and his ability to quote the Bible effortlessly was well-known and admired. His relationship with God was the guiding light of his journey, offering him strength and solace throughout his days. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Rev James M. Rivera, Wayne "Little" Rivera, George "Butch" Rivera, Vada Rivera, and his mother, Salle Rivera. Also preceding him in passing was his beloved grandson, Tayir Pugh Jr. Left to cherish his memory are his devoted children: daughters Wilhelmina, Wilmaira, and Hassana Rivera, and sons Lamont Cruse, Tayir Pugh, and Bai-Eyse Pugh (Kyra). Sisters, Sally Farrow, Marie Kennedy, Betty Gissendanner, Brucezetta Duncan (Daniel), Linda Rivera, Shelia Logan, and Barbara Edmond (Larry) and brother Michael Hammond. Also, his sister-in-law Leola Rivera. William's legacy lives on in his eight treasured grandchildren: Zyla, Saalen, Alon, Pharoah, Egypt, Heiress, Knala, and Ava. He also leaves behind a dear and loving friend, Diane Rocco, whose companionship brought him much joy. The family of William Taft Rivera invites friends and loved ones to join them in celebrating his life on October 2, 2026, at 10:00 AM. The Rivera family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to everyone for the donations, prayers, condolences, and kind words of encouragement they have received. William was not only the youngest in his family but also a beacon of light in the lives of those who knew him. He is now resting in the arms of God, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and resilience.
