It is with heavy hearts and cherished memories that we announce the passing of William Scott Hayda, fondly known as Scott, who left us peacefully on May 21, 2026, at the age of 69. Born on June 11, 1956, in the welcoming arms of Magna, Utah, Scott lived a life rich in love, laughter, and lasting friendships.
Scott was the beloved son of the late William and Marilyn Hayda (née Sadler), who instilled in him the values of kindness and resilience. He is predeceased by his dear sister, Kathy Smith (née Hayda), and together, they are now reunited in a place of eternal peace.
Scott's legacy lives on through his cherished daughters, Rachel VerHeoff and Tamra Hayda, who were the pride and joy of his life. He was a devoted and playful grandfather to four adored grandchildren – Charlie, Tanner, Skyler, and Addison – with whom he shared countless precious moments and endless stories.
Scott is survived by his loving brothers, Richard and Allen Hayda, and his supportive brother-in-law, Guy Smith, with whom he shared many fishing adventures. His extended family of cousins, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews will forever remember his warmth and humor.
A man of simple pleasures, Scott found immense joy in family gatherings, where laughter and love filled the air. He was an enthusiastic sports fan, his heart devoted to the Green Bay Packers, and he relished spirited discussions about the game. His competitive spirit shone brightly in his passion for poker, where he once proudly claimed first place in a Texas Hold'em tournament.
Scott's family wishes to honor his life with a private funeral ceremony, respecting his wishes for an intimate farewell. A celebration of life BBQ, filled with the camaraderie and joy he so loved, will take place in mid-July, bringing together close friends and family to remember a life well-lived.
As we bid farewell to a remarkable man, we carry with us the lessons of love and laughter that Scott imparted. His memory will remain in our hearts, a beacon of warmth and kindness. May he rest in eternal peace, knowing he is dearly loved and forever missed.
