January 18, 2002 — October 21, 2026
William Russell Hicks, a cherished son, brother, father, and friend, passed away on October 21, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love and warmth that will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew him. Born on January 18, 2002, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, William was a beacon of light and joy, known for his remarkable, contagious smile that could illuminate any room and warm even the coldest of hearts.
From a young age, William demonstrated an exceptional love for his family, a trait that only deepened as he grew. His devotion to his son, Brady Russell Hicks, and his nieces, Avery and Clara Vander, was evident in the way his eyes would light up with joy at the mere sight of them. This was a testament to the caring and loving man he was, qualities that will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
William dedicated many years of his career working as a Fiberglass Technician in the plants, where his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence left a lasting impression on his colleagues. Yet, it was his time spent outdoors that truly brought him happiness. An avid hunter and fisherman, William found peace and fulfillment in nature, often sharing these experiences with those he loved.
William is survived by his devoted mother, Elizabeth "Lil Bit" Johnson, and loving stepfather, David Johnson. He leaves behind a large and loving family, including his sisters, Victoria Hicks (Andre) and Katelyn Mack (Dristian), brothers, Noah Johnson and Landon Hicks, and the joy of his life, his son Brady. He is also survived by his maternal grandparents, Vanessa LaFleur & Frank Liles, and Butch & Julie Roberts, as well as his paternal grandparents, Amanda Hicks, Debbie & Greg Etheridge, and Dale & Wanda Johnson. William's legacy is further carried on by his nieces, nephew, and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins who will continue to honor his memory.
Preceding William in death are his father, Russell "Buddy" Hicks IV, his grandfather, Oscar LaFleur, and his great-grandparents, Welton and Wanzie Hebert, Cindy McMullen, Josephine Roberts, and Lamar and Rita Roberts. He is also reunited with his uncles, Musial Hebert and Joseph Byron Roberts, and his beloved Aunt Anna.
A celebration of William's life will be held on October 31, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the New Life Tabernacle Jesus Name, located at 12012 Florida Blvd Hwy 190 Satsuma, La 70785. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to a charity of your choice in William's memory.
