William Rufus Poole

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William Rufus Poole, affectionately known as "Sonny," who left this world on August 8, 2026, at the age of 79. Born on August 20, 1946, in the vibrant city of Detroit, Michigan, Sonny was the cherished son of the late William Rufus Poole Sr. and Cora Poole. A proud graduate of Northwestern High School, Sonny carried with him throughout his life the values of hard work and determination, instilled in him by both his parents. Sonny served in the U.S. Army from 1964- reaching the rank of Seagent. Sonny was CEO of Mystic Eight Electronics. Sonny was formerly married to Cherry A. Banks. They had six children: Christyal Poole, William (Billy) Poole, Kimika Wilbert, Marlo Poole, Jasmine Poole, and Maximillian Poole. Sonny's love extended beyond his immediate family to his grandchildren, Julia Poole, Denise Poole, Dwayne Poole, Monique Wilbert, LySandra Wilbert, and Trey Wilbert. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Myron Poole and Gary Poole, and his son William Poole III. His siblings who remain with us, Jeanette Henry, Cordelia Patrick, Dewayne Poole, and Paul Poole, will forever cherish the memories of their shared childhood and the bonds they nurtured throughout the years. Sonny will be profoundly missed but never forgotten. May he rest in peace, reunited with those who have gone before him. Rest in Peace. As Sonny would say, And the Band played on!"
