December 19, 1951 — February 17, 2026
It is with the deepest sorrow and a profound sense of gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of William Pierce Thompson, who departed this world peacefully at home on February 17, 2026, after a courageous battle with Vexas Syndrome. Born on December 19, 1951, in the charming town of Leesburg, Virginia, William's 74 years were marked by kindness, resilience, and an unwavering dedication to those he loved.
William, affectionately known as Bill to friends and family, was the beloved son of the late Charles and Evelyn Thompson. He was predeceased by his cherished sister, Donna Miller, and his beloved daughter, Morgan Jennings. Despite these profound losses, Bill's spirit remained unbroken, and his life was a testament to the enduring power of love and family.
A proud graduate of Loudoun Valley High School in 1970, Bill's journey through life was both inspiring and admirable. He dedicated many years of service to the city of Fairfax, where his hard work and commitment to his community left a lasting impact.
Bill found great joy and camaraderie as a member of the Loudoun Golf and Country Club. His love for the game of golf and his regular outings with friends brought him immense happiness. Alongside his wife of 24 years, Jennifer Thompson, Bill embarked on numerous travel adventures and cruises, creating memories that will forever be cherished.
In his personal life, Bill was known to all as a friendly neighbor and a kind-hearted soul. Whether lending a helping hand with a project or offering words of encouragement, his presence was a source of comfort and strength to those around him. His ability to turn even the simplest moments into lasting memories was a testament to his remarkable character.
Bill leaves behind a loving family who will continue to honor his memory: his devoted wife Jennifer; his children Meghan Thompson, Ryan White, and Jillian Welsh, along with her husband Tanner Welsh; his siblings Peggy Shetter and her husband Cordell, and Doug Thompson and his wife Ronda. He was the proud grandfather of eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immeasurable joy to his life.
In accordance with Bill's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to celebrate his life and bid him a fond farewell. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Vexas Foundation, an organization close to Bill's heart, at www.link.com.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Blue Ridge Hospice for their compassionate care and support during Bill's final days. Their kindness will not be forgotten.
William Pierce Thompson's legacy is one of love, warmth, and unwavering dedication to family and friends. Though he is gone, his spirit will continue to guide and inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. Rest in peace, Bill. Your journey may have ended, but your soul will forever be in our hearts.
