William Patrick Matson, affectionately known as Bill, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2026, surrounded by his beloved family. Born on September 11, 1974, in Bethesda, Maryland, Bill was a man of many talents, a devoted family man, and a cherished friend to many.
Bill was the cherished son of Howard and the late Patricia Matson. He attended Berkner High School where he first discovered his love for sports, especially karate and football. These early passions slowly transformed into a lifelong affection for fishing, golf, and the camaraderie of cheering on the Dallas Cowboys.
After completing his education, Bill embarked on a remarkable 34-year career in the car business. The last 20 years of his professional journey were spent at Huffines Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Lewisville, Texas. His dedication and work ethic made him a respected figure in his field.
On November 30, 2002, Bill married the love of his life, Lorraine Belcher. Together, they shared 24 beautiful years filled with laughter, love, and a deep bond that was evident to all who knew them. Their union brought them the greatest joy of their lives, their daughter Isabella. Bill's love for Lorraine and Isabella was profound and unwavering; they were truly the center of his universe.
Bill was not just a family man but a friend to many. He had a natural gift for hospitality, always ensuring that everyone felt welcome and included in his home. His quick wit and humor were legendary, and he was never short of a good joke to lift the spirits of those around him. Whether he was grilling, smoking brisket, or sharing stories with his best friend and neighbor Jeff, Bill's warmth and generosity shone through.
In addition to his wife, Lorraine, and daughter, Isabella, Bill is survived by his father, Howard Matson, his siblings Jennifer and Greg Matson, and his best friend Jeff. He is predeceased by his mother, Patricia Matson.
A private ceremony will be held to honor Bill's life, in accordance with the family's wishes. They extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Baylor Scott and White PGA for their devoted care during Bill's final days.
Bill's spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. The family shares, "Forever in our hearts," as a testament to the indelible mark he left on their lives.
