In Loving Memory

William Montano
August 25, 1948 — October 10, 2026
William Montano, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 78. Born on August 25, 1948, in the close-knit community of Hagerman, New Mexico, William was the cherished son of Louis Montano and Viola Randolph.
Growing up in Ruidoso, William attended Ruidoso High School, where he distinguished himself as a talented athlete, playing basketball and football for the Warriors. His passion for teamwork and leadership later translated into a successful career at Christmas by Krebs, where he devoted 34 years as a Foreman, guiding the company from its inception to become a beacon of success.
In 1964, William embarked on a journey of love and partnership with Veronica “Bette” Montano. At the tender ages of 14 and 17, they sealed a bond that would endure for 62 wonderful years. Together, they built a family filled with warmth and laughter, becoming the heart and soul of the Montano family.
William’s legacy is carried on by his loving wife, Bette, his devoted children Roy, Molly, Monica, and Yolanda Montano, and his grandchildren Amanda and Alex Montano. His great-grandchildren, Jace, Lexi, and James Montano, were a source of immense joy and pride for him. William's brother, Raymond Montano, also survives him, along with a community of friends and extended family who will forever cherish his memory.
William was a man of faith and compassion, an active member of Christ Church and a devoted participant in the ministry at St. John’s Church, where he led prayer meetings that inspired many. Known for his generosity and wisdom, William was a peacemaker, a man who lived by the principles of unconditional love and selflessness. His humor, often shared through jokes and riddles, brought smiles to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In his free time, William found solace in nature, enjoying fishing and the simple pleasure of planting flowers. He cherished coffee time—moments where conversation and connection flourished. His greatest love, however, was spending quality time with his family and friends, creating memories that will endure in the hearts of those he touched.
He is predeceased by his parents, Louis Montano and Viola Randolph, his sister Dora Montano, his brother-in-law Jaime Alvarez, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews who welcomed him with open arms into the eternal embrace.
A celebration of William’s life will be held on October 17, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Christ’s Church, located at 2200 N. Sycamore Ave., Roswell, NM 88201. Friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance of a remarkable man whose life was a testament to love, faith, and community.
