William May Myers, Jr.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William May Myers, Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who passed away peacefully on September 1, 2026. Born on October 11, 1935, in Clearwater, Florida, Bill was the cherished son of William Myers Sr. and Florence Sanford Myers. He now joins them in eternal rest, along with his sister Wendy Myers and nephew John Bradford, Jr. From a young age, Bill demonstrated an unwavering commitment to his family and country. He graduated from George Mason High School in Falls Church, Virginia, in 1953, and later pursued higher education at the University of Florida, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration in 1961. His academic journey was briefly interrupted by a proud four-year service in the United States Air Force, where he served with honor in Korea and Japan. In 1962, Bill married the love of his life, Margie Miller, with whom he shared over six decades of devoted partnership. Together, they were blessed with two loving daughters, Vicky Silke and Jody Bradford, who survive him today. His legacy continues through his five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy to his life. Bill's professional career was marked by dedication and excellence. After relocating to Washington, D.C., he embarked on a distinguished 35-year tenure in government service. He initially worked with the Department of the Army before transferring to the Department of the Navy, where he excelled in the procurement field. Bill retired as a GS12 in 1994, leaving behind a legacy of integrity and service. In 2006, Bill and Margie made their home in California, Maryland, where he became an active member of the Hollywood United Methodist Church. In recent years, he found solace and inspiration in the virtual services of New Life Church. Bill was also an enthusiastic participant in his community poker group for 18 years, forming cherished friendships along the way. Bill's love for the outdoors was evident in his early years, as he enjoyed beach outings and fishing trips. Later, he found joy in tending to his vegetable garden while residing in St. Charles. His stoic nature, quiet strength, and generous heart were hallmarks of his character, endearing him to all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be remembered as a devoted family man whose love and kindness left an indelible mark on the lives he touched. The family kindly requests that donations be made in his memory to a charity of choice. As we bid farewell to Bill, let us celebrate a life well-lived and honor the profound impact he had on those around him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
