Services for WILLIAM MARLYN GALLOWAY Will be Held at MORGAN FUNERAL CHAPEL Attalla, Alabama SUNDAY, AUGUST 23, 2026 1:00 pm Visitation — 2:00 pm Service Graveside Service BETHLEHEM BAPTIST CHURCH Gallant, Alabama William Marlyn Galloway, lovingly known as Marlyn, peacefully transitioned from this life in his sleep on August 18, 2026, at the age of 89. Born on March 19, 1937, in the small town of Gallant, Alabama, Marlyn was blessed with a long and fulfilling life, rich with love, service, and laughter. Marlyn was the dear son of William Homer Galloway and Tressie Jean Battles Galloway, who predeceased him. He was also predeceased by his cherished sister, Marcelle Redden, and his beloved oldest grandchild, Dave Justin Beck. Marlyn is survived by his devoted wife, Patsy Ann Stallings Galloway, with whom he shared an extraordinary 70-year journey of marriage, having celebrated this remarkable milestone in April 2026. Beginning as high school sweethearts, they built a large family including 4 children, 10 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren. Even while experiencing health issues of her own, Patsy meticulously and generously cared for her dearly loved husband during his final months. A man of many talents and passions, Marlyn was a retired Chief Master Sergeant in the Alabama Air National Guard 226th Combat Communications Group, where he proudly served for 43 years. His service took him around the globe, earning him numerous medals and commendations for his exceptional dedication and achievements. Marlyn's life was steeped in music, inherited from his musically inclined family. Not only did he compose dozens of original songs, he shared his voice and gift of playing multiple instruments, performing in various gospel and bluegrass groups. Notably, he sang with his daughters Leisa and Lana in The Galloways, and lent his talents to The Songsters and The Swordsmen. His musical legacy remains a cherished memory for all who heard him. Beyond music, Marlyn was an avid woodworker, renowned for crafting everything from exquisite cabinetry to charming birdhouses. His craftsmanship was celebrated throughout the community, leaving a tangible legacy of his craftsmanship. Marlyn loves the Lord earnestly and was a dedicated worship leader, offering his spiritually musical leadership in numerous area churches, with Samuel’s Chapel in Altoona being his final congregation. He also had a deep appreciation for collecting knives, pocket watches, restoring vintage cars, and cultivating his pristine lawn. Together with Patsy, he delighted in exploring the Longest Yard Sale, always on the lookout for antiques and collectibles. Known affectionately as Uncle Pebo to his nieces and nephews, Marlyn was renowned for his grand sense of humor and outgoing personality. He brought joy and laughter wherever he went, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Marlyn's legacy is carried forward by his loving children: Leisa McGowan, Lana (Harvey) Beck, Marla (Ben) Cain, and Heath (Heather) Galloway. His grandchildren: William McGowan, Reilly (Ryan) Nosek, Audra (Blake) Wilkes, Lauren Maddux, Mallory (Will) Holter, Olivia (Ryan) Gillilan, Samuel (Anna) Cain, Joel Cain, and Nyla Galloway, as well as his great-grandchildren: Odin Nosek, Mjolnir Nosek, Madeline Beck, Favor Wilkes, Willow Wilkes, Beckett Wilkes, Dean Maddux, Ridge Maddux, Margaret Anne Holter, Claire Holter, Aaron Holter, Shiloh Holter, Isaac Gillilan, Selah Gillilan, Lily Cain and her baby brother due in January. Sisters: Linda (Don) Davis, Jackie (Dan) Davis, Jan (Rick) Street, and Rhonda (Al) Spiers, along with numerous nieces and nephews, all continue to honor his memory. Officiant Reverend Harvey Beck. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Marlyn's honor to a charity of their choice. Marlyn Galloway's life was a testament to devotion, creativity, and humor. His spirit will forever inspire those who knew and loved him, and his memory will be cherished in the hearts of his family and friends.
