William Lowell Harden

In loving memory of William Lowell Harden, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who peacefully departed this life on September 10, 2026, at the St. Vincent Heart Center, enveloped by the love of his family and friends. Born on April 2, 1953, in New Ross, Indiana, William was the beloved son of William Lee and Marget (Ferry) Harden, who preceded him in death. He carried forth their legacy with grace and dignity throughout his life. William shared 33 beautiful years with his devoted wife, Debbie Harden, whom he married on June 15, 1975, in Chicago. Together, they nurtured a loving family, raising two children, Brent Harden of Burrows, Indiana, and Kim Southwood of New Ross, Indiana. As a grandfather to Cassidy Harden of Lafayette, Indiana, and Josey Harden of Oceanside, California, William's heart was full of pride and affection. An avid fisherman, William never missed an opening day on the water, where he found peace and joy. His vegetable garden was his sanctuary, and he delighted in sharing its bounty, particularly his prized tomatoes, with neighbors and friends. William's hands were never idle; his passion for woodworking resulted in beautiful, handcrafted furniture that will be cherished by his grandchildren and generations to come. A service to honor William's life will be held on September 12, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the New Ross United Methodist Church, located at 108 W State St. Family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of a man who touched so many with his kindness and generosity. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in William's memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, an organization that was close to his heart. William Lowell Harden leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and craftsmanship. His spirit will forever be remembered and cherished by those fortunate enough to have known him.
