Born on September 19, 1965, in Charlotte, North Carolina, William was the beloved son of Bennie Ruth Anderson and the late Willie Martin. William, fondly known by many as "Coach Lee," was a man whose life was a testament to passion, dedication, and love. A graduate of East Mecklenburg High School, William's journey through life was marked by his unwavering commitment to mentoring and guiding young people. His role as a coach for the 704 Wildcats and TCE flag football teams was more than just a position—it was his calling. With every practice and game, he imparted wisdom, instilled confidence, and shared his love for the sport and life with countless young athletes. To his family, William was a pillar of strength and a source of unwavering love. He was a man who never hesitated to speak his mind, sharing his thoughts openly, whether they were received as good or bad. His authenticity was a hallmark of his character, and those who knew him will forever cherish the memories of his unique spirit and the joy he brought into their lives. William was deeply devoted to his family and leaves behind a legacy of love. He is survived by his cherished daughter, Chantayzjaa Humphrey, and his special grandson, Tylek Vanderburg, both of Charlotte, North Carolina. His mother, Bennie Ruth Anderson, and stepfather, Maxie Wither, along with his siblings, Colette Anderson, Sharon Anderson, Rico Burns, Pravis Anderson, and Yuself Anderson (Veandra Williams), will forever hold his memory close. His special cousin, Andre Anderson, and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends will continue to celebrate his life and the indelible mark he left on their hearts. A service to honor and celebrate the life of William "Coach Lee" Anderson will be held on October 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Alexander Funeral Home, located at 1424 Statesville Ave, Charlotte, NC 28206.
