William L. (Bill) Holm
December 8, 1933 — September 4, 2026
William L. (Bill) Holm, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at the age of 92. Born on December 8, 1933, in Clinton, Iowa, Bill was the cherished son of Grace and Edgar Holm. Throughout his long and fulfilling life, Bill’s love and dedication to his family, career, and community left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Bill's early years in Clinton were marked by strong family bonds and a love for education. After graduating from Clinton High School, he continued his studies at Clinton Community College and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Northern Iowa.
In 1958, Bill married the love of his life, Ann L. Ebensberger, on August 9. Together, they built a beautiful life and family, blessed with two children. Although Ann and their son Scott have since passed, Bill's legacy continues through his daughter Susan(Greg)Dennis along with their children Erica (Richard)Schmidt and Lance(Elizabeth)Dennis. Great-grandfather to Campbell, Lila, Hendrick, and Eva.
Bill served his country with honor in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, where he was stationed in Germany. His military service instilled in him a sense of discipline and dedication that he carried into his professional life. He began his career as a teacher and coach in Savanna, Illinois, and later moved to the Chicago suburbs before returning to his hometown of Clinton. There, Bill found a new calling in the accounting field and ultimately managed the Advantage One Credit Union, Morrison IL until his retirement.
Bill was a man of many passions. As a charter member of the Fulton Country Club, he enjoyed spending time golfing, and his love for sports extended to bowling, biking, and a lifelong passion for basketball and statistics. His competitive spirit and analytical mind made him a beloved companion on the course and a formidable opponent in any game.
He is survived by his brother Charles (Chuck) Holm, brother in law William (Bill) Ebensberger, many nieces and nephews, who will continue to cherish his memory.
In accordance with his wishes, a private family ceremony will be held.
