It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of William Jeremiah Russleman, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who left this world peacefully at home, embraced by the love of his family, on September 2, 2026. Born on January 15, 1942, in Aurora, Indiana, William led a life marked by dedication, love, and unwavering strength.
William was preceded in death by his cherished parents, Grace and Bill Russleman, and his dear brother, Charles Saylor. He is survived by his devoted wife, Phyllis, with whom he shared a remarkable 62-year marriage filled with love and adventure. Together, they raised five daughters: Niki Russelman, Holly Donaldson, Tracy Russelman, and Nellie Foultner, who brought immense joy to their lives. William's legacy extends to his 25 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, who will forever cherish his memory.
A proud graduate of high school, William furthered his education at trade school, becoming a skilled millwright at Wauna Mill, where he dedicated many years before retiring in 2005. His career was diverse, starting with logging adventures in Alaska and Oregon, showcasing his adventurous spirit and commitment to hard work.
Beyond his professional achievements, William served his country with honor as a member of the Air Force, though his service was cut short due to medical complications. His sense of duty and patriotism remained steadfast throughout his life.
William's faith was an integral part of his life, and he was a devoted member of the Catholic Church. He also found camaraderie and joy as a long-standing member of the Clatskanie Gun Club. An avid hunter, William cherished the simple pleasures of reloading and shooting, always eager for the next opportunity to be outdoors.
Known for his generosity and dedication, William's family was the heart of his existence. He was a man of strong convictions, sometimes stubborn, yet always driven by love and a desire to provide for those he held dear.
A celebration of William's life will be held on October 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church, located at 105 SW High St. The service will include a processional, opening prayer, hymn, scripture reading, musical selection, words of remembrance, eulogy, closing prayer, and recessional, honoring the remarkable life he led.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude for the outpouring of support and love received during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice in William's memory, celebrating his generous spirit and love for humanity.
