It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William George Hupp, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, who departed this world on May 3, 2026, at the age of 76, following a short but valiant battle with cancer. William passed peacefully in the comfort of his home in Andover, surrounded by those he cherished most.
Born on February 13th, 1950, in the vibrant city of Minneapolis, Minnesota, William was the cherished son of Auralea and Claude Hupp. He grew up in a loving family alongside his siblings, Judy, Tom, and Robert, each of whom shared a special bond that endured throughout their lives. William’s early years were marked by exceptional achievements, including his distinction as a decorated gymnast, a testament to his dedication and resilience.
A proud graduate of Marshall High School in 1968, William pursued his passion for aviation by completing flight school, a journey that reflected his adventurous spirit. His sense of duty and patriotism led him to serve in the U.S. Army, where he contributed honorably to his country.
On May 17, 1974, William married the love of his life, Kathleen Marie Ward, marking the beginning of a partnership filled with love and laughter. Together, they built a beautiful family and shared countless memories until Kathleen’s passing. Their union was blessed with six children, Teresa, Lisa, Christy (Shane), Kari (Steven), Jessica (DJ), and Billy (Tayla), who were the pride and joy of William’s life. His legacy is further carried on by his 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense happiness.
William’s professional journey was as diverse as it was distinguished. He served as a U.S. Postmaster out of Maple Lake, MN, and for a time, he owned the iconic Hexagon Bar, a cornerstone of the community.
William is predeceased by his parents, Auralea and Claude, his brother Tom, his beloved wife Kathleen, his daughter Lisa, and his son-in-law Corey Chesler. He leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter, one that will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.
A celebration of William’s life will be held on May 15, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at The Church of the Epiphany, located at 1900 111th Ave NW, Coon Rapids, MN 55433. Visitation starting at 9:30 a.m.
