William Earl Thompson

October 1, 1952 — September 8, 2026

William Earl Thompson was born on October 1, 1952, in Clarksdale (Bobo), Mississippi, to Dora Kate and Luther Thompson II. In 1963, Luther Sr. moved the family to Bakersfield, California. William was one of eight children. His brothers are Luther III, Arthur, Scott, and Lester. His sisters are Mary Kate, Emma Jean, and Juanita. William attended elementary and junior high in the Bakersfield City School District and graduated from the Kern High School District. He worked at the Cotton Mill with his father, then later at Owens Corning Fiberglass with his brothers. William was married to his late wife, Genois. He loved spending time with family and friends. Family gatherings and cookouts were the perfect time to see his smile and hear his unforgettable laughter. He was quiet, but always fair and firm with everyone he met. William truly loved everyone. He became a Jehovah's Witness with his mother, Dora Kate, and Luther Thompson, and was baptized on October 18, 2008. William was blessed to have Denise and Sal in his life, as well as his children: sons William II, Ja'Mall, JD, and Darrion, and daughters Patricia and Lisa. On September 8, 2026, William said his goodbyes to family and friends in a quiet room at Adventist Hospital, holding on to his faith in Jehovah God until the very end. He passed away peacefully. He leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Dora Kate, and his siblings, Mary Kate, Juanita Fae (with her husband, William), Lester (with his wife, Stephanie), and special brother Joseph Jackson. He leaves behind his children: William II (with his wife Tyhesha), Ja'Mall, JD (with his wife Natasha), Darrion, Patricia (with her husband Ronnie), and Lisa (with her husband James), as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and a host of friends and fellow Jehovah's Witnesses.

A Prayer for a Mother

Today we lift up a mother whose heart is hurting deeply. She has lost someone who was not only her son, but a part of her very heart. Be especially close to her now. Give her comfort beyond what our words can provide. When she misses his voice, his smile, and his presence, surround her with treasured memories of the life and love they shared. Bless her with peace in the difficult days ahead. May the love she has for her son remain forever in her heart, and may she find comfort knowing that a mother's love can never be erased.

Acknowledgments

Our family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported us during the loss of our beloved loved one. Your prayers, kind words, phone calls, visits, flowers, meals, and acts of kindness have brought us comfort during a time of great sorrow. There are no words that can fully express how much your love and support have meant to us. Knowing that we were surrounded by caring family and friends helped give us strength when we needed it most. May God bless each of you for your kindness, compassion, and prayers. We will forever be grateful for the love you have shown our family.
