With heavy hearts and cherished memories, we announce the peaceful passing of William Denny Thompson on May 29, 2026. Born on August 13, 1952, in Washington, Denny was a vibrant soul whose life was a testament to the joy of living fully and loving deeply.

He is predeceased by his dear sisters Lori Marker and Juliana Thompson, and his loving grandparents Preston and Juanita Evans Thompson, and Bill and Dorothy Sever. He is also predeceased by his great-great-niece, Raigan Knight.
Denny's legacy lives on through his seven children, who will forever hold his memory close. He is survived by his cherished brother James Wesley Thompson, along with a devoted family that includes nephews Thomas Mowdy, Jacob Maxey, Curtis Thompson, and Patrick, and nieces Andrina Goetz (Brian), Chanda Fetter (David), and Crystal Maxey. He is also remembered fondly by cousins John Mcneese (Kim) and Ken Thompson, and close friends Hailey Welch (Josh), Blake, and Jessica Stanley, along with countless others who were touched by his warmth and humor.
Denny was a dedicated pipe fitter for the union in California, where he eventually retired to return home to Mississippi. He was an esteemed member of the Kennedy Springs Baptist Church, a place where his faith and community spirit were deeply rooted.
Known for his love of the outdoors, Denny found great joy in hunting, fishing, and gardening. He was a man who could light up any room with his booming laughter and razor-sharp wit. His presence was often heralded by his boisterous voice, ensuring that everyone knew Denny had arrived. Though he was a jokester at heart, beneath his colorful exterior was a heart of gold. His kindness was as boundless as his humor, always willing to lend a helping hand, often with a playful tease and a smile.
Denny will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. The world feels a little quieter without his voice, but his spirit and laughter will echo in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 302 8th Ave SW, Magee, MS 39111.
