It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the peaceful passing of William "Cookie Man" Bowler, who departed this world on May 23, 2026, at his home surrounded by love. Born on September 5, 1952, in Philadelphia, PA, William was a beacon of strength, adventure, and unwavering dedication to justice throughout his 73 years. William was the cherished son of the late William Bowler Sr. and Julie Bowler. He was predeceased by his beloved sisters, Paulette and Joyce, with whom he shared a deep and abiding bond. William leaves behind a devoted family who adored him deeply: his beloved wife, Sarah, and their three sons, Reggie, Kenyatte Sr. (and wife Florence), and Ryheem. His legacy continues through his treasured brothers, Keith (and wife Mert) and Craig (and wife Porsha), as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Among them, his oldest grandson, Kenyatte Jr., holds a special place, having spent countless cherished moments with his beloved Pop Pop. William's extended family of nieces and nephews will also carry forward his memory with love. A proud graduate of John Bartram High School in Southwest Philadelphia, William was a man of many talents and passions. His career saw him take on various roles, but it was as a computer transporter that he found his true calling. Driving trucks, delivering, and repairing computers were tasks he approached with dedication and skill, making a mark in the lives of those he served. William was more than his career; he was a man of the people. As a cofounder of a Breakfast Program for children on Columbia Ave in the 1980s, he demonstrated his unwavering commitment to community and the betterment of future generations. A proud member of the Black Panther movement, he lived by the creed "Power to the People," standing firmly against the injustices faced by black youth. His stories of personal adventures were legendary, captivating all who listened. In his personal life, William was adventurous and free-spirited. He found joy in the open road, exploring the world atop his beloved motorcycle. A devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan, he was the embodiment of loyalty and passion, traits that defined every aspect of his life. Family and friends are invited to celebrate the remarkable life of William "Cookie Man" Bowler on June 4, 2026.
