William "Billy" John Spitz, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on April 24, 2026, at the age of 62. Born in Mesa, Arizona, on April 4, 1964, Billy's life was a symphony of adventures, harmonies, and laughter, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to resonate with all who knew and loved him. Billy was the cherished son of William Joseph and Helen Marie Spitz, who raised him in the vibrant communities of Tempe and Chandler Heights, Arizona. Growing up in a home filled with love, laughter, and adventure, Billy's childhood was adorned with fond memories of swimming in their backyard pool, riding motorcycles and quads, and exploring the vast expanse of their family home. This nurturing environment, coupled with his parents' unwavering support, molded Billy into the spirited and vivacious individual that he became. A passionate musician, Billy's love for music was evident from a young age. His talents with the trumpet were showcased as he participated in the Jazz band during junior high and high school, eventually joining the prestigious Royal's Drum & Bugle Corp. Billy's musical journey was highlighted by an unforgettable performance with the legendary Buddy Rich and his heartfelt renditions of taps for veterans throughout the valley. Music was not only a hobby for Billy but a way of life—a testament to his creativity and dedication. Billy's charismatic personality and quick wit were well-known among his family and friends. He had a unique ability to light up any room with his infectious humor and was never without a joke to share. Despite life's ups and downs, Billy embraced every opportunity with enthusiasm and an adventurous spirit, finding joy in both the good and the challenging moments. Billy was previously married to Lori Freeland Spitz, with whom he shared the joy of raising two beautiful children, William Elwin Spitz and Courtney Paige Spitz. His love for his family was unwavering, and he took immense pride in watching his children grow and thrive. Billy's legacy also lives on through his grandson, Aiden Elwin Spitz, whom he adored beyond measure. In addition to his children and grandson, Billy is survived by his loving siblings, Patty Lugo, Melissa Torres, and David Spitz, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart. He is predeceased by his parents, William and Helen Spitz, and his grandparents, John and Helen Krieg, whose memories he cherished throughout his life. A celebration of Billy's life will be held on August 18, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at Resthaven/Carr-Tenny Mortuary, located at 4310 E. Southern Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85042. Family and friends are invited to gather in honoring his memory and the joy he brought to all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests donations be made to a charity of your choice in Billy's memory. His spirit, humor, and love will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched.
