July 17, 1943 — March 5, 2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved William (Bill) T. Slawson, who ended his earthly journey on March 5, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on July 17, 1943, in Jackson County, Mississippi, Bill was the cherished son of Melvin and Alice Slawson. He was a beacon of love, dedication, and service, whose memory will remain forever engraved in the hearts of those who knew him.
Bill's life was a testament to the virtues of hard work and family devotion. On February 1, 1963, in Carrollton, Mississippi, he married the love of his life, Faye Nester. Together, they built a beautiful life over 63 years, raising three wonderful children, Joyce Lipscomb, Jennifer Collier, and William (Tommy) Slawson, alongside nurturing a loving home filled with laughter and warmth.
A man of incredible skill and diligence, Bill spent his career as a tool and die maker before transitioning to the role of a mechanical engineer. His passion for craftsmanship did not wane with retirement, as he embarked on a fulfilling second career as a self-employed contractor. Bill's hands were never idle; they were the tools of a man who found joy in building and creating, leaving behind not just structures, but legacies of talent shared with those around him.
Bill's life was enriched by his love for nature, as seen in his beautifully tended yard and abundant vegetable garden. He found peace and contentment in the simple pleasures of nurturing life from the soil, a metaphor for the nurturing care he bestowed upon his family and community. Known for his warmth and kindness, Bill embodied the spirit of a good neighbor, always ready to lend a helping hand and share his wisdom and skills.
He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Faye; his daughters, Joyce Lipscomb and Jennifer Collier; his son, William (Tommy) Slawson and his wife Cindy; and his sister, Pauline Mullins. Bill's legacy continues through his seven grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren, who will carry forward the values and love he instilled in them. Though he was predeceased by his parents, many siblings, and his grandson Jacob, their spirits undoubtedly welcomed him home.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Bill's life on March 9, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the Serenity Funeral Home, located on Old Pascagoula Road in Theodore, AL. It will be a time to reflect on a life well-lived and to express gratitude for the time shared with a truly remarkable man.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the compassionate staff at Hospice with Saad Medical at Providence Hospital for the loving care provided to Bill during his final days. Your kindness will remain in our hearts forever.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Bill's memory to a charity of your choice, embodying his spirit of giving and community support. May we all carry forward the light and love that Bill so generously shared with the world.
