November 24, 1959 — May 6, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of William "Bill" J. Tidswell Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, on May 6, 2026, at his home in Anderson, South Carolina. Born on November 24, 1959, in Youngstown, Ohio, Bill's life was a testament to the power of love, laughter, and community. Bill was the cherished son of the late William J. Tidswell Sr. and Ruth Irene (Smith) Tidswell. He was also predeceased by his infant brother, a nephew, a niece, his grandparents, three brothers-in-law, and two sisters-in-law. Despite these losses, Bill's spirit remained unyieldingly vibrant, fueled by the love of his surviving family and their shared memories. On July 15, 1978, Bill married the love of his life, Donna S. (Mullins) Tidswell. Together, they built a life filled with joy and companionship, marked by nearly 48 years of marriage. Their bond was a testament to enduring love, and Donna fondly remembers Bill as not only her husband but also her best friend. Bill was a proud father to his son William “Bill” J Tidswell III, who, alongside his wife Sarah, was a source of great pride; and to his daughter, Danyelle M Tidswell Italiano, who, with her husband Tom, brought immense joy to his life. He was a doting grandfather to five grandchildren: Cole James Tidswell, Kane Anthony Tidswell, Gavin Michael Tidswell, Aubrey Danyella Tidswell, and Mila Marie Italiano. He is also survived by his brother, John "Jack" Tidswell (Kim) Dickey, and sisters Karen (Santo) Valentin, Ruthann (Tony) Caruso, Roseann (Bucky) Gibson, Marylouise (Tom) Clark, and Linda (Greg) Fisher. Bill's extended family, which includes 30 nieces and nephews, 36 great-nieces and nephews, and eight great-great-nieces and nephews, as well as Aunt Audrey Kweicin, numerous cousins, and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, will remember him fondly for his warmth and humor. A graduate of Cheney High School in Youngstown, Ohio, class of 1977, Bill dedicated 30 years of service to General Motors in Lordstown, Ohio, until his retirement in 2009. Even in retirement, Bill's commitment to community and camaraderie was evident through his memberships with the American Legion Hall, Itam Club Croatian Home, Warren Harley Davidson, and as a new prospect for the Punishers Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club, Norse Chapter. Bill's love for motorcycles was legendary; he relished long rides, regardless of the weather, and took great joy in camping and being on the lake. Yet, his greatest passion was his family. Known for his quick wit and infectious smile, Bill had an unparalleled gift for making friends wherever he went. His kindness, generosity, and selflessness touched countless lives, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him. Bill's life will be celebrated on May 30, 2026, at Pope Drive Baptist Church, located at 2510 Pope Drive, Anderson, SC 29625. The service will commence at 2:04 PM. The family extends a special message of gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. Bill will be missed dearly by his wife, children, grandchildren, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of love and laughter will forever remain in our hearts.
