William (Bill) J Tidswell Jr
November 24, 1959 — May 6, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of William (Bill) J Tidswell Jr, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, who departed this world on May 6, 2026, at the age of 66. Bill was born on November 24, 1959, in Anderson, South Carolina, to William (Bill) J Tidswell Sr and Ruth Irene Smith Tidswell. He was predeceased by his parents, his infant brother, and his grandparents.
Bill was a cherished member of his family and community, remembered for his quick wit, infectious smile, and the unparalleled ability to make friends wherever he went. He had a heart of gold, always ready to lend a helping hand, which touched the lives of many.
Bill's life was defined by his dedication to his family, his work, and his passions. He married his high school sweetheart, Donna S (Mullins) Tidswell, on July 15, 1978, and together they built a beautiful life over nearly 48 years of marriage. Their love was a beacon of strength and support to all who knew them. Bill is survived by his devoted wife, Donna, who was not only his partner but his best friend.
He was the proud father of two children, William “Bill” J Tidswell III (Sarah) and Danyelle M Tidswell Italiano (Tom), who carry forward his legacy of kindness and generosity. Bill's love and wisdom will continue to guide them in all they do. He cherished his role as a grandfather to his five grandchildren: Cole James, Kane Anthony, Gavin Michael, Aubrey Danyella, and Mila Marie. They were the light of his life, and he was their greatest cheerleader.
Bill was a graduate of Cheney High School in Youngstown, Ohio, class of 1977. He dedicated 30 years of his career to General Motors in Lordstown, Ohio, retiring in 2009. Known for his tireless work ethic and commitment, he was respected and admired by his colleagues.
An active member of several organizations, Bill was involved with the American Legion Hall, the Itam Club, the Croatian Home in Warren, and the Harley Davidson community. More recently, he was a new prospect in the Punishers Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club, Norse Chapter. Bill's love for motorcycles was unparalleled. He embraced the open road, taking long trips and riding around town regardless of the weather. He also enjoyed being on the lake and camping, but nothing compared to the joy he found in spending time with his family.
Bill is survived by his brother John “Jack” Tidswell (Kim) Dickey, sisters Karen (Santo) Valentin, Ruthann (Tony) Caruso, Roseann (Bucky) Gibson, Marylouise (Tom) Clark, and Linda (Greg) Fisher. He leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter with his 22 nieces and nephews, 21 great-nieces and nephews, and 3 great-great-nieces and nephews. His Aunt Audrey, along with many cousins, will also miss him dearly.
A celebration of Bill's life will be held on May 30, 2026, at 2:04 PM at Pope Drive Baptist Church, located at 2510 Pope Drive, Anderson, SC 29625. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a man who gave so much to those around him.
From his family: "He will be missed dearly by his wife, best friend just short of being married 48 years, and his children and grandchildren tremendously."
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Bill's memory to a charity of your choice, reflecting his spirit of helping others.
While Bill may have left this world unexpectedly, the love, laughter, and kindness he bestowed upon us will forever remain in our hearts.
