It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William “Bill” Imhoff, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who peacefully departed this world on June 1, 2026, at the age of 91. Born on April 7, 1935, in the charming town of Murphysboro, Illinois, Bill was the cherished son of Virgil and Marguerite Imhoff, both of whom preceded him in death.
Bill's life was a tapestry of love, laughter, and unwavering faith. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Dorothy, with whom he shared an extraordinary 70 years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with cherished memories and deep-rooted love that served as an inspiring testament to their family and friends.
A proud graduate of Murphysboro High School, Bill carried the lessons and friendships forged there throughout his life. His quick wit and boundless enthusiasm for life were ever-present, endearing him to all who had the privilege of knowing him. Bill never met a stranger, for he had an innate ability to connect with people, creating friendships that spanned decades.
Bill was an avid sports fan, with a particular passion for the St. Louis Cardinals. His love for the game was rivaled only by his love for his family and his faith. An active member of Fairway Christian Church in The Villages, Florida, Bill's devotion to his faith was reflected in his everyday actions and his genuine care for others. His church community was a significant part of his life, and he found great joy in the fellowship and service opportunities it provided.
Bill is survived by his devoted wife Dorothy; his loving daughter Cynthia Tanner and her husband Rick of Cummings, Georgia; and his dear daughter-in-law Linda Imhoff of Union, Kentucky. He was the proud grandfather of six grandchildren and the doting great-grandfather to seven great-grandchildren. His legacy of love and laughter lives on in each of them.
Bill was predeceased by his parents, Virgil and Marguerite, and his beloved son, Tom, whose memory he cherished dearly.
A celebration of Bill's life will be held at Fairway Christian Church, where friends and family will gather to honor a man whose life was a testament to love, kindness, and faith. His family finds comfort in knowing that Bill is now reunited with his son and parents, watching over them with a loving heart.
Bill Imhoff's life was a melody of kindness, laughter, and unwavering faith, and his memory will forever be a guiding light in the hearts of those he touched. As we say our goodbyes, we remember his love for God, family, and the joy he found in life's simple pleasures.
