William Bill Gibson
July 1, 1941 — April 25, 2026
William "Bill" Gibson, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, peacefully departed this world in his sleep on April 25, 2026, at the age of 84. Born on July 1, 1941, in Forrest County, Bill was the cherished son of Oscar and Grace Gibson. The legacy of his life is carried forth by his three children, Carol Upton and her husband Tim, Bryan Gibson and his wife Rhonda, and Sammy Gibson and his wife Jennie, along with seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren who were his pride and joy.
Bill's early years were shaped by his upbringing in Forrest County, where he learned the values of hard work, integrity, and kindness from his parents. These values remained the cornerstone of his life. As a young man, Bill answered the call to serve his country, joining the Army from 1963 to 1965. His time in the military instilled in him a sense of duty and camaraderie that he carried throughout his life.
In his personal life, Bill was fortunate to share a deep and enduring love with his dear wife, Martha Ann Gibson, who preceded him in death. Together, they built a home filled with laughter, love, and warmth—a home that welcomed all who entered with open arms. Bill often spoke of Martha as his steadfast partner, and the love they shared was evident to all who knew them.
A man of simple pleasures, Bill found joy in the company of his family and friends. He was known for his quick wit, infectious smile, and a heart large enough to hold the world. His presence was a comforting constant, and his absence will be deeply felt by those who were blessed to know him.
Bill was also predeceased by his sister, Mildred Kimbrell, with whom he shared many fond memories growing up. Together, they wove a tapestry of stories and experiences that enriched their lives and those around them.
Throughout his life, Bill cherished the time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He reveled in their accomplishments and was always their biggest supporter, offering words of wisdom and encouragement. His legacy will live on in their hearts, as they carry forward the lessons he imparted with love and gentleness.
As we remember William "Bill" Gibson, we celebrate a life well-lived, one that touched many and left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit will continue to watch over his family, guiding them with the same love and care he showed in life.
In accordance with his wishes, Bill's life will be celebrated in a private family gathering, where stories will be shared, tears will be shed, and laughter will echo in remembrance of a man who was truly one of a kind. He will be laid to rest with the dignity and honor befitting a life so beautifully lived.
Rest in peace, dear Bill. You will be forever missed and eternally remembered.
