William (Bill) McKelvey Senior

William "Bill" Anthony McKelvey, a cherished father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 28, 2026, at the age of 95. Born on February 7, 1931, in Lansdowne, Pennsylvania, Bill was the beloved son of Mary Leonard and Charles McKelvey. Bill lived a life full of love, laughter, and dedication. He was married to the love of his life, Joanne (Joan) Silinsky, on April 11, 1953, and they shared a beautiful life together until her passing in April 1997, just shy of their wedding anniversary. Together, they raised a family filled with love and warmth, including their sons William Anthony McKelvey Jr., Daniel McKelvey, Patrick McKelvey, and daughter Joanne Morgan. A proud graduate of West Catholic High School, Bill went on to serve his country with honor in the United States Navy, contributing his skills as a Seabees where he helped construct buildings on the bases. His talents as a union bricklayer and his expertise in various construction trades were evident in his work at Saint Madeline's Church, where he contributed to building the brick church and rectory. Bill was a man of many talents and interests. He was known for his artistic craftsmanship, creating beautiful lamps and lawn decorations from driftwood and other materials. His love for the ocean, fishing, and collecting rocks and shells was a passion he passed down to his children and grandchildren. Bill's creativity was matched only by his adventurous spirit, which led him on a memorable month-long road trip exploring state parks across the country. His sense of humor and playful spirit were legendary among family, friends, and neighbors. Whether concocting light-hearted pranks, engaging in snowball fights, or transforming his pickup truck into a makeshift swimming pool, Bill's presence was always accompanied by joy and laughter. He was an excellent cook, a compassionate caregiver to his wife during her illness, and a friend to animals, often feeding squirrels by hand. Bill's caring nature and willingness to lend a helping hand endeared him to all who knew him. Bill's legacy lives on in his surviving family: his sons William Anthony McKelvey Jr. (Connie, deceased), Daniel McKelvey (Debbie, deceased), Patrick McKelvey, daughter Joanne Morgan (Richard), his brother Robert McKelvey, and his cherished grandchildren Jennifer, Melissa, Christopher, Sarah, Dana, and Barry, along with his six great-grandchildren. His influence also extends to numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who were fortunate to receive his handmade creations and wisdom. A private funeral ceremony will be held in honor of Bill's life. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Ware Presbyterian Village for the exceptional care and love Bill received from the dedicated nurses, doctors, and caregivers. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Dementia Society of America, in memory of Bill. Bill's life was a testament to love, kindness, and creativity. His spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched.
