William "Bill" Brown
December 10, 1941 — May 27, 2026
William "Bill" Brown, a devoted family man, veteran, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family, following a courageous battle with cancer. Bill was born on December 10, 1941, in Massillon, Ohio, to John and Grace Brown, and was predeceased by his beloved wife, Cheryle, his brother, Joal, and his parents.
Bill's life was a testament to resilience, kindness, and dedication. After graduating from Washington High School in 1959, he answered the call of duty and served honorably in the United States Army from 1964 to 1966. His service to his country was just one chapter in a life filled with hard work and commitment.
For 34 years, Bill was a dedicated employee of the Timken Company, where he forged lasting friendships and earned the respect of his colleagues. Following his time at Timken, he continued his career at Detroit Diesel, where he worked for 20 years before retiring. Bill was known for his integrity, his unwavering work ethic, and his ability to bring out the best in those around him.
Bill's love for his family was the cornerstone of his life. He leaves behind his devoted daughters, Carmella (Bernie) Binder, Suzi Brown (Craig Bailey), and Valerie (Donny) Reiter. He was the proud grandfather of five grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life. Bill's family was his greatest treasure, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
After the passing of his beloved Cheryle in 2018, Bill found solace and joy in the great outdoors. Summers were spent camping and fishing at Tappan Lake with Carmella, Bernie, and Nicholas, creating memories that will be cherished forever.
In his final days, Bill was surrounded by the compassionate care of his hospice team. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to his nurses, Nichole, Julie, Colton, and Adreanna, as well as his aide, Tina, for their unwavering support and kindness during his journey.
Bill's legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. In honor of his memory, the family requests that donations be made to Second Chance for Animals, Inc., a cause that was close to his heart.
As we say goodbye to a remarkable man, we celebrate a life well-lived and the profound impact he had on those fortunate enough to know him. May Bill's journey inspire us to live with the same grace, courage, and love that defined his life.
