William (Bill)

William (Bill) Stadler, a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, peacefully passed away at his home on September 2, 2026, embraced by the love of his family. Born on November 21, 1941, in Aurora, Illinois, Bill was the cherished son of Ora and George Stadler. Bill was a man of many virtues, known for his kindness and his ability to light up a room with his warmth and friendliness. He had a knack for making everyone feel welcome, whether they were a familiar face or a stranger. His life was a testament to the power of love and family. In 1960, Bill answered the call to serve his country and joined the Navy, a commitment he honored until 1964. His service was marked by a dedication and camaraderie that he carried with him throughout his life. On November 21, 1981, Bill married Nancy, the love of his life, and together they shared nearly 45 wonderful years. Their union was a testament to enduring love and partnership. Bill's legacy is carried on by his three children, William (Billy) Gray and his wife Nina, Michelle (Scooby) Peters,Jennifer Stadler (Wolfe), and one sister Mary Adams. He was a proud grandfather to 11 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren, and he even had the joy of welcoming a great-great-grandchild into the world. Bill was predeceased by his parents, his bonus mom Viola Cassity, his brothers Richard (Dick) and George (Spuddy), his sisters Ruth Ann Barkes and Beverly Stadler, and his grandson Anthony Hale. While his passing leaves a profound void, his spirit and memory will continue to live on through the lives he touched. A lover of the outdoors, Bill cherished his time at the cabin and lake with family and friends. Fishing was not just a hobby but a passion, one that he enjoyed sharing with loved ones. He was also a devoted fan of the Chicago Cubs, cheering them on with unwavering support. Funeral services will be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery 20953 West Huff Road at 10:30am. Elwood Illinois 60421. Immediately after the service there will be a luncheon until 4pm at Norway Community Building at 3676 E. 2603rd. Rd. Sheridan Illinois 60551. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the kindness and support they have received during this difficult time. As we remember Bill, we celebrate a life well-lived, marked by love, laughter, and an indelible spirit. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy of kindness and love will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
